  • Media Evaluation
  • Slasher films are a very stereotypical genre, many of them have the same storylines.
We tried to stick to the sterotypes while diverting away to create a more sophisticated.
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products
  • Our product and other distributed products all represent women as naïve, non-forceful victims.
In our product the woman lacks the bravery needed to shut the door on the man and lacked the strength to escape.
How does your media product represent particular social groups
  • Most of the film industry would distribute our genre of media product.
However because our product is low budget, it is unlikely the larger labels, such as Universal, would show an interest.
Therefore, it is likely a smaller company would be in charge of distributing our film.
What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
  • Our target audience is really broad, however it would mainly attract males between the ages of 15-26 as this age group are still youthful and like goriness.
Who would be the audience for your media product?
  • We attracted our audience by sticking to the stereotypes of slasher films, while making it seem original, which attracted people beyond our target audience.
How did you attract/address your audience
  • I have learnt how to use many different applications, and various cameras.
I have learnt various new camera angles that enable to keep a face hidden.
What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
  • I have learnt that there are many different types of camera angles and shot that can be used to make a film seem professional.
I learnt that you have to leave a few seconds before and after the clips in order to avoid sound being cut.
Looking back at your preliminry task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product
