    1. JOB DESCRIPTION DEPARTMENT: Project Management JOB TITLE: Manager, Project Management LOCATION: UK EFFECTIVE DATE: 1. PURPOSE OF THE JOB: • Responsible for the overall direction and management of projects through designated project managers, ensuring consistency with corporate strategy, consistency of process across projects and internal and external customer satisfaction with the projects. • Directs and provides technical oversight to the Project Management function • Helps provide vision, leadership and mentorship to the department and organization 2. JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES: • * Develop, implement and maintain integrated processes within Project Management • * Coordinate implementation of overall procedures and strategies to minimize cost and duration of projects by utilizing effective project management techniques • * Assist project management in facilitating conflict resolution by identifying barriers that may impede project progress and working with the Team Leaders, and/or Team Member to seek solutions • * Provide independent monitoring and reporting of progress to plan, cross- functional process optimization methods, effective communication of project information and problem-solving facilitation to resolve project issues • * Build and maintain the performance and effectiveness of project management and the project teams, including regular checks on team health and identification and resolution (including escalation to the appropriate level) of team performance issues • * Recruit, train and retain a Project Management Team comparable in quality and effectiveness to the best in the pharmaceutical industry. • Facilitate strategic planning and risk assessment, by managing the development and delivery of appropriate contingency activities in the context of the budget, time, resources and value targets and in accordance with SOPs • Establish and maintain a \"sense of urgency\" within areas of responsibility to assure rapid, in-depth evaluation and, where appropriate, development of internal and external opportunities while not sacrificing scientific excellence, quality/compliance or agreed upon timelines. • Other duties as assigned. *Essential Form No. HR02A/Version 3/Effective: 30 November 2004 (Ref.     2. 3. QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. • Degree/Higher degree in Biological Sciences or equivalent work experience. Advanced degree, at an MBA or MS-level preferred. • At least 5 years experience in the administration of Clinical Trials to ICH GCP standard. • At least 5 years supervisory / line management experience. • Solid understanding of the overall pharmaceutical/biologic product development process (from discovery to market). • Demonstrated project management and project planning skills, including effective team building, facilitation, negotiations, influencing, leadership and management skills. • Demonstrated, successful experience leading complex, cross-functional teams • Strong analytical skills. • Attention to detail, strong oral and written communication skills, and advanced Microsoft Office skills including Microsoft Project or similar scheduling tool. • Strong customer service skills required.
