  • Not necessarily. As mentioned before, you can listen to podcasts directly from the podcast’s home page. You *do* need a podcatcher or an feed reader to subscribe to podcasts -- if you want updates delivered to you in one place for you to find your podcasts of interest.

  • Quality of podcasts vary (just like the quality of TV, movies, and radio shows), but there are many excellent podcasts with relevant and useful information.
  • Abundant – in number and topics. iTunes alone has “hundreds of thousands” podcasts.
  • Free – There are some that have subscription fees. By in large, however, the majority are free for users to download.
  • Accessibility – Users can subscribe to podcasts to have them automatically delivered to their podcatcher of choice (e.g., iTunes, or Juice), or individual episodes can be downloaded on demand.
  • Convenient – files can be easily transferred to an MP3 player, so you can take the audio/video content with you in the car, while you exercise, etc.
