  • False, yes podcast episodes can be downloaded….BUT…. Common misconception with podcasts -- a file sitting somewhere a website that can be listed to…. The key elements of a podcast is that it 1. produced in episodes [think radio broadcasts…], and 2. It is able to be subscribed to [you can receive new episodes automatically…]
  • No where near to being true. You can listen to podcasts rigth from yoru computer And you don’t need an iPod [or any apple device, for that matter] You can also burn it to a CD
  • No way. Podcasts are talk shows, videos, demonstrations, presentations, etc.
  • Not necessarily. As mentioned before, you can listen to podcasts directly from the podcast’s home page. You *do* need a podcatcher or an feed reader to subscribe to podcasts -- if you want updates delivered to you in one place for you to find your podcasts of interest.
  • Hardly. The majority are free.
  • Yep. Just like TV, movies, etc. you’ll find varying levels of quality and content. More and more new podcasts are being created every day -- esp. to fil niches of interest. Yours truly is a co-producer of a podcast!

  • Quality of podcasts vary (just like the quality of TV, movies, and radio shows), but there are many excellent podcasts with relevant and useful information.
  • Abundant – in number and topics. iTunes alone has “hundreds of thousands” podcasts.
  • Free – There are some that have subscription fees. By in large, however, the majority are free for users to download.
  • Accessibility – Users can subscribe to podcasts to have them automatically delivered to their podcatcher of choice (e.g., iTunes, or Juice), or individual episodes can be downloaded on demand.
  • Convenient – files can be easily transferred to an MP3 player, so you can take the audio/video content with you in the car, while you exercise, etc.
