  • 2. अथ श्रीविघ्नेश्वय ऩूजा॥ ॐ शक्लाम्बयधयं विष्ण ं ु शवशिणं चतबजभ।् प्रसन्निदनं ु ु ु (Now commences the Pooja to Lord ् ध्यामेत सिुविघ्नोऩशान्तमे॥ Vighneshwara) om śuklāmbaradharaṁ viṣṇuṁ śaśivarṇaṁ caturbhujam | The Ganesha Pooja is the first portion of the worship prasannavadanaṁ dhyāyet of ANY form of the Divine. It is performed to sarvavighnopaśāntaye || propitiate the Lord in the form of Ganesha, the (Next, is breath-control. Close your eyes. Shut your left remover of obstacles. The intent behind this initial nostril with the ring finger of your right hand. Breathe in prayer is to remove any obstacles in the performance deeply through your right nostril. Close the right nostril as well, with the thumb. Mentally chant the following of the main Pooja. mantra) Lord Ganesha is invoked into the form of a simple ु ु ु ॐ ब्। ॐ बि्। ॐ सि्। ॐ भह्। ॐ जन्। ॐ तऩ्। ॐ सत्यभ।् ॐ तत्सवितियेण्मं बगो देिस्य ु ु small mound of moist turmeric powder. Pre-requisites: धीभवह। वधमोमोन् प्रचोदमात।् ॐ आऩ्। JyaetIrs>। 1. A small silver plate in which spoonful of turmeric powder is moistened with a spoon ु ु ् अभृत ं ब्रह्म। बूबिस्सियोभ॥ of water, and shaped into a mound. om bhuḥ| om bhuvaḥ| om suvaḥ| om mahaḥ| 2. A whole flower is to be placed just behind om janaḥ| om tapaḥ| om satyam| om the turmeric mound. tatsaviturvareṇyaṁ bhargo devasya dhīmahi| 3. A bowl of flower petals. dhiyoyonaḥ pracodayāt| om āpaḥ| jyotérasaù | 4. Yellow rice (Akshata) amṛtaṁ brahma| bhūrbhuvassuvarom || (At this point, release both nostrils, and gently touch your 5. Sandal paste (Gandham) right earlobe with the fingertips of your right hand) 6. Vermillion powder (Kumkum) 7. Bell. (Chant the following verse) 8. Naivedyam : A silver or brass plate with a çréparameçvara prétyarthaà couple of bananas, a couple of fresh betel leaves, some supari, and the halves of a ु तदेिरग्नं सवदनन्तदेि तायाफरं चन्द्रफरं तदेि। विद्याफरं broken coconut. This will be our offering to ु दैिफरं तदेि रक्ष्मीऩते् अविमग ं स्मयावभ॥ the Lord. tadevalagnaṁ sudinantadeva tārābalaṁ 11. A silver or brass cup with water (this is candrabalaṁ tadeva | called Panchapatram), and a spoon (called vidyābalaṁ daivabalaṁ tadeva lakṣmīpateḥ Uddharini). aṅghriyugaṁ smarāmi || 12. A small empty bowl (silver or brass) to pour spoonfuls of water in. (This is the declaration of intent before Lord Ganesha. Chant this.) (Ring the bell a number of times) े कवयष्यभाणस्य कभुण् वनविुघ्नन ऩवयसभाप्त्यथं आदौ (In the right hand, take a few grains of yellow rice along with a flower petal. Chanting the following verse, gently श्रीविघ्नेश्वय ऩूजां कवयष्ये। आदौ श्रीविघ्नेश्वय ऩूजां कवयष्ये॥ knock on your fists against your forehead)
  • 3. kariṣyamāṇasya karmaṇaḥ nirvighnena (Take a spoonful of water from the Panchapatram, show it parisamāptyarthaṁ ādau śrīvighneśvara pūjāṁ to the Lord, and pour it into the bowl) kariṣye | ādau śrīvighneśvara pūjāṁ kariṣye || स्नऩमावभ। snapayāmi | (Offer the grains of yellow-rice+ flower-petal in your right (Take a spoonful of water from the Panchapatram , pour it hand, to Lord Ganesha). into your right palm and gently sprinke it on the Lord) (Ringing the bell, take a flower petal in your right hand, स्नानानन्तयं आचभनीमं सभऩ ुमावभ। and chant the following verse to invoke Lord Ganesha into the turmeric mound) snānānantaraṁ ācamanīyaṁ samarpayāmi| (Take a spoonful of water from the Panchapatram, show it to the Lord, and pour it into the bowl) ॐ ग॒ णानां त्वा ग॒ णऩ॑वत हिाभहे क॒ विं ् िस्त्राथं अऺतान सभऩ ुमावभ। किी॒नाभ॑ ऩ॒भश्र॑िस्तभभ।् ज्ये॒ष्ठ॒याजं॒ ब्रह्म॑णां ब्रह्मणस्पत॒ आ ॑ ु vastrārthaṁ akṣatān samarpayāmi | (Offer a few grains of the yellow-rice to the Lord) ् न॑ शृ॒ ण्िन्नू॒वतवब॑ सीद॒ साद॑ नभ ॥ ् उऩिीताथं अऺतान सभऩ ुमावभ। ु ु ् ् ु ु ॐ बूबिस्सियोभ अवस्मन हवयद्रावफम्बे सभख ं upavītārthaṁ akṣatān samarpayāmi | (Offer a few grains of the yellow-rice to the Lord) भहागणऩवतं ध्यामावभ आिाहमावभ। ् AaÉr[aw¡ अऺतान सभऩ ुमावभ। om gaṇānāṁ tvā gaṇapa̍ti havāmahe kaviṁ ̱ ̎ ̱ ̱ ka̍vī̱nāmu̍pa̱maśra̍vastamam | äbharaëärthaà akṣatān samarpayāmi | jye̱ṣṭha̱rāja̱ ṁ brahma̍ ṇāṁ brahmaṇaspata̱ ā na̍ ḥ (Offer a few grains of the yellow-rice to the Lord) śṛ̱ṇvannūtibhi̍ ḥ sīda sādanam || ̱ ̱ ̍ ् वदव्यऩवयभरगन्धान धायमावभ। om bhūrbhuvassuvarom asmin haridrābimbe divyaparimalagandhān dhārayāmi | sumukhaṁ mahāgaṇapatiṁ dhyāyāmi (Dip a fingertip into the sandal paste, and apply it on the āvāhayāmi | Lord) (Offer the petal to Lord Ganesha) गन्धस्योऩवय हवयद्राकं ु कुभ ं सभऩ ुमावभ। gandhasyopari haridrākuṁkumaṁ ु ु सभखाम नभ्। आसनं सभऩ ुमावभ। samarpayāmi | (Dip a fingertip into the Kumkum, and apply it on the sumukhāya namaḥ | āsanaṁ samarpayāmi | Lord) (Offer a flower petal to the Lord) ् अऺतान सभऩ ुमावभ। ऩादमो् ऩाद्यं सभऩ ुमावभ। akṣatān samarpayāmi| pādayoḥ pādyaṁ samarpayāmi | (Offer a few grains of the yellow-rice to the Lord) (Take a spoonful of water from the Panchapatram, show it to the Lord, and pour it into the bowl) ु ै ऩष्प् ऩूजमावभ। हस्तमो् अर्घ्यं सभऩ ुमावभ। puṣpaiḥ pūjayāmi| (Offer a flower petal to the Lord) hastayoḥ arghyaṁ samarpayāmi | (Take a spoonful of water from the Panchapatram, show it (Now, recite the Lord’s 16 names. For each name, offer a to the Lord, and pour it into the bowl) flower-petal). ु भखे AacmnIy< सभऩ ुमावभ। ु ु ॐ सभखाम नभ्। om sumukhāya namaḥ | ॐ एकदन्ताम नभ्। om ekadantāya namaḥ | mukhe äcamanéyaà samarpayāmi | (Take a spoonful of water from the Panchapatram, show it ॐ कवऩराम नभ्। om kapilāya namaḥ | to the Lord, and pour it into the bowl) ु ु ु सभखाम नभ्। भधऩकं सभऩ ुमावभ। sumukhāya namaḥ | madhuparkaṁ ॐ गजकणुकाम नभ्।om gajakarṇakāya namaḥ | samarpayāmi |
  • 4. ् ॐ रम्बोदयाम नभ्।om lambodarāya namḥ | (If the Pooja is being performed in the morning ॐ विकटाम नभ्।om vikaṭāya namaḥ | hours, the following line is to be chanted) स॒ त्य॒ ं त्व॒ तन॒ ऩवय॒विञ्चावभ। े ॐ विघ्नयाजाम नभ्।om vighnarājāya namaḥ | sa̱tya̱ ṁ tva̱rtena̱ pari̱ ṣiñcāmi | ॐ विनामकाम नभ्। om vināyakāya namaḥ | (If the Pooja is being performed in the evening hours, ॐ धूभके तिे नभ्। om dhūmaketave namaḥ | the following line is to be chanted) t< Tva sTyen piri;Âaim, ॐ गणाध्यऺाम नभ्।om gaṇādhyakṣāya namaḥ | åtaà tvä satyena pariñiïcämi | ॐ पारचन्द्राम नभ्। om phālacandrāya namaḥ | (Chant this line as well) ॐ गजाननाम नभ्। om gajānanāya namaḥ | A/m&/tae/pStr[mis। ु ॐ िक्रतण्डाम नभ्। om vakratuṇḍāya namaḥ | a̱mṛ̱to̱pastaraṇamasi | ॐ शूऩ ुकणाुम नभ्।om śūrpakarṇāya namaḥ | (Take a flower petal in your right hand. As you recite EACH of the following mantras, wave the petal above the ॐ हेयम्बाम नभ्। om herambāya namaḥ | Naivedyam plate, and make an offering to the Lord). ु ॐ स्कन्दऩूिजाम नभ्। om skandapūrvajāya ॐ प्रा॒णाम॒ स्वाहा om prāṇāya svāhā ̱ ̱ ̎ namaḥ | ॐ अ॒ ऩा॒नाम॒ स्वाहा om apānāya svāhā ̱ ̱ ̱ ̎ ॐ व्या॒नाम॒ स्वाहा ॐ श्रीवसविविनामकस्वावभने नभ्। नानाविध-ऩवयभर- om vyānāya svāhā ̱ ̱ ̎ ॐ उदानाम॒ स्वाहा ु ऩत्र-ऩष्पावण सभऩ ुमावभ। om udānāya svāhā ̱ ̎ om śrīsiddhivināyakasvāmine namaḥ | ॐ स॒ भा॒नाम॒ स्वाहा om samānāya svāhā ̱ ̱ ̱ ̎ nānāvidha-parimala-patra-puṣpāṇi samarpayāmi | ॐ ब्रह्मणे॒ स्वाहा om brahmaṇe̱ svāhā̎ (Offer a few grains of yellow rice to the Lord, while (Wave your right hand with the petal once more, as you chanting the following line): recite the following line, and offer the flower-petal to the ् धूऩदीऩाथ ुभऺतान सभऩ ुमावभ। Lord) dhūpadīpārthamakṣatān samarpayāmi | ु ु सभखाम नभ्। नावयके रखण्डद्वमं कदरीपरं भहान ैिेद्य ं (Place a couple of flower petals on the Naivedyam plate. वनिेदमावभ। Take some water from the Panchapatram in the Uddharini, sumukhāya namaḥ | nārikelakhaṇḍadvayaṁ and sprinkle it on the contents of the Naivedyam plate, kadalīphalaṁ mahānaivedyaṁ nivedayāmi | chanting the following mantra) ु॑ ु ु ॐ बूबि॒  सि॑ । तत्स॑वि॒ तिुयेण्मं बगो॑ दे॒िस्य॑ धीभवह। (Take a spoonful of water from the Panchapatram, show it to the Lord while reciting this line, and pour it into the वधमो॒ मो न॑ प्रचो॒दमात।् bowl) भध्ये भध्ये अभृतऩानीमं सभऩ ुमावभ। ु देि॑ सवित॒  प्रस॑ि। madhye madhye amṛtapānīyaṁ samarpayāmi | om bhūrbhuva ḥ suva̍ḥ | tatsa̍vi̱turvare̎ ṇyaṁ ̍ ̱ bhargo̍ de̱vasya̍ dhīmahi | dhiyo̱ yo na̍ ḥ (Take a spoonful of water from the Panchapatram, show it praco̱dayā̎t | to the Lord while reciting this line, and pour it into the deva̍ savita̱ ḥ prasu̍va | bowl)
  • 5. अ॒ भृ॒ता॒वऩ॒धा॒नभ॑ वस। (Reciting the following phrase, offer a flower petal to the a̱mṛ̱tāpi̱ dhānamasi | ̱ ̱ ̍ Lord). (Take a spoonful of water from the Panchapatram, show it ु ु ु ॐ सभखाम नभ् भन्त्रऩष्पं सभऩ ुमवभ। to the Lord while reciting this line, and pour it into the om sumukhāya namaḥ mantrapuṣpaṁ bowl) samarpayami | न ैिेद्यानन्तयं आचभनीमं सभऩ ुमावभ। (Reciting the following phrase, take a spoonful of water naivedyānantaraṁ ācamanīyaṁ samarpayāmi | from the Panchapatram, show it to the Lord, and pour it into the bowl) ु ु सिणुऩष्पं सभऩ ुमावभ। (Take a flower petal in your right hand. As you recite the following line, wave the petal above the Naivedyam plate, and make an offering to the Lord). suvarṇapuṣpaṁ samarpayāmi | ु ु ु सभखाम नभ् कऩूयताम्बूरं वनिेदमावभ। (Recite these verses. These are the concluding prayers of sumukhāya namaḥ karpūratāmbūlaṁ the propitiation of Lord Ganesha) nivedayāmi | v³tu{f mhakay sUyRkaeiqsmàÉ, (Light up the camphor on the camphor-plate. Ringing the bell with the left hand, wave the plate with the camphor- Aiv¹< k…é me dev svR kayeR;u svRda. flame aroung the Lord, reciting the following mantra) vakratuëòa mahäkäya süryakoöisamaprabha | ॐ नभो व्रातऩतमे नभो गणऩतमे नभ् प्रभथऩतमे नभस्ते avighnaà kuru me deva sarva käryeñu sarvadä || अस्त ु रम्बोदयाम एकदन्ताम विघ्नविनावशने वशिसताम ु अगजानन ऩद्माकं गजाननं अहवन ुिभ।् अनेकदं तं श्री ियदभूत ुमे॑ नभो॒ नभ॑ । ॐ ए॒क॒द॒न्ताम॑ वि॒ द्महे॑ बक्तानां एकदन्तं उऩास्महे। ु ् िक्रत॒ ण्डाम॑ धीभवह। तन्नो॑ दवन्त् प्रचो॒दमात॥ agajānana padmārkaṁ gajānanaṁ aharniṣam | om namo vrātapataye namo gaṇapataye namaḥ anekadaṁ taṁ bhaktānāṁ ekadantaṁ pramathapataye namaste astu lambodarāya upāsmahe | ekadantāya ॐ वसविविनामकस्वावभने नभ् àawRnan! सभऩ ुमावभ। vighnavināśine śivasutāya śrī varadamūrtaye̍ namo̱ nama̍ ḥ | om ekadantāya vi̱ dmahe ̱ ̱ ̱ ̍ ̍ सिोऩचायpUja< सभऩ ुमावभ। vakratu̱ṇḍāya dhīmahi | tanno̍ dantiḥ ̍ praco̱dayā̎t || om siddhivināyakasvāmine namaḥ prārthanān (Hold the plate with the camphor flame in your left hand. samarpayāmi | sarvopacārapūjāṁ samarpayāmi Take a flower-petal in your right hand, wave it around the | flame, chanting the following line, and offer it to the lord). kpURrnIrajn< दशुमावभ। नीयाजनानन्तयं आचभनीमं _____________________ सभऩ ुमावभ। karpūranīrājanaṁ darśayāmi | nīrājanānantaraṁ ācamanīyaṁ samarpayāmi | (Reciting the following phrase, wave your right hand over the camphor-flame, and touch your forehead and eyes. Offer the flame to everyone to do the same). यऺां धायमावभ। rakṣāṁ dhārayāmi |

In the right hand, take some grains of yellow rice with a flower petal, and while (Now commences the Pooja for Lord chanting the following verse, gently knock your fists against your forehead: Krishna) Sri Krishna’s Pooja begins after Lord Ganesha’s Pooja is completed. ॐ शक्लाम्बयधयं विष्ण ं ु शवशिणं चतबजभ।् प्रसन्निदनं ु ु ु ् ध्यामेत सिुविघ्नोऩशान्तमे॥ Pre-Requisites: om śuklāmbaradharaṁ viṣṇuṁ śaśivarṇaṁ caturbhujam | 1. Picture or image of Sri Krishna. prasannavadanaṁ dhyāyet 2. A small pedestal or platform on which to sarvavighnopaśāntaye || place the picture or image. 3. A bowl of flower petals, and whole flowers (Next, is breath-control. Close your eyes. Shut your left 4. A garland of flowers for Sri Krishna’s image nostril with the ring finger of your right hand. Breathe in deeply through your right nostril. Close the right nostril as or picture well, with the thumb. Mentally chant the following 5. Naivedyam : Offerings to the Lord: ु अभृत ं ब्रह्म। बूबिस्सियोभ॥ a. All manner of food items cooked om bhuḥ| om bhuvaḥ| om suvaḥ| om mahaḥ| om janaḥ| om tapaḥ| om satyam| om without onions (Sweet and Salt tatsaviturvareṇyaṁ bhargo devasya dhīmahi| Cheedai, Butter, fruits of all kinds, dhiyoyonaḥ pracodayāt| om āpaḥ| jyotérasaù | etc.) amṛtaṁ brahma| bhūrbhuvassuvarom || b. Taamboolam: A silver or brass (At this point, release both nostrils, breathe out, and gently plate with a couple of betel leaves, touch your right earlobe with the fingertips of your right supari, bananas, and a broken hand) coconut. c. Madhuparkam – Honey + ghee + Next is the Sankalpa – the “declaration of intent” to yogurt mixed in a small bowl perform the Pooja.
