A set consists of 3-4consecutive cards of the same suit while a run may consist of same value cards ofequal rank from different suits. For example , a set may consist of 2, 3, 4, & 5 spadeswhile a run may have 2 clovers, 2 spades, 2 hearts and 2 diamonds. 2. LAYING OFFA lay off is a card that extends any meld. Regardless of who created the meldinitially, a card can be included to an existing combination. The player can also goabout adding cards to the melds of their opponents.

DISCARDING In order to be an expert Rummy player, you should not only master the way to make rightcombinations but should also be able to discard the right cards in order to prevent youropponent from making his combinations. The game will proceed inthis manner till the stage when any one of the players will have made sets using all the cards in his hand.4. Aces can be counted as low or high depending on the rules of the game. While ending the game, onecard should be discarded.
