  1. 1. Course Module 1 Basic Embedded Systems 1. Basics of Microprocessor and Microcontroller. 2. Philips P9V51RD2BN microcontroller architecture. 3. Introduction to Integrated Development Environment (RIDE) and Embedded C programming. 4. Interfacing the following peripherals with 8051: LED’s, switches, SSD, LCD, ULN driver, DC motor and Serial interface to PC. Highlights: • Practical will be conducted on the interfacing elements as well as the basic C programming for Embedded System. • A team of two people will be provided a Kit and a CD (containing software’s). • The cost of this kit is included in the fees of the workshop. (It’s a basic 8051 development Kit) “Basic 8051 Kit” mentioned at back will be used and provided. Duration: 2 days. (12 Hours) Team will be provided with a take away kit. The cost of kit is included in the fees of the workshop. Course Module 2 Embedded Design using 8051 MuC. 1. Basics of Microprocessor and Microcontroller. 2. Philips P9V51RD2BN microcontroller architecture. 3. Introduction to Integrated Development Environment (RIDE) and Embedded C programming. 4. Interfacing basic inputs and outputs. (LED’s switches, relays, motors) 5. Interfacing 16x2 LCD. 6. Interfacing serial EEPROM. 7. Interfacing real time clock. 8. Building menu driven program. 9. Time delays using on-chip timers 10. Programming using interrupts. 11. Serial communication interface. “Advanced Embedded Design” kit mentioned at the back will be used. Duration: 4 days. (20 hours) Kit will be provided only in lab. It is not a take away kit. Course Module 3 OrCAD for Circuit simulation and PCB Design 1. Basic schematic design. 2. Simulation using PSPICE. 3. Circuit design for complex circuitry. 4. Generating netlist file. 5. Generating PCB from netlist. 6. Placing components. 7. Routing connections. 8. Generating gerb file by post processor. 9. Taking films for PCB fabrication. “OrCAD 9.2 Evaluation Version will be provided” Duration: 2 days. (12 Hours) All Courses Conducted By: Prof. Anish Goel, (M.S.E.E, NJIT, USA) Course Module 4 Line Follower Robot 1. Anatomy of robots and mechatronics. 2. Basics of embedded systems and microcontrollers. 3. Study of ATMEGA AVR microcontrollers. 4. Analysis of motor drivers and power supply. 5. Design of circuit for line follower. 6. Types of motors and motor selection. 7. IR sensors and sensor interface. 8. Assembling the robot. 9. Programming the AVR MuC. “Line follower kit” will be provided to a team. Duration: 2 days. (14 Hours approx.) Team will be provided with a take away kit. The cost of kit is included in the fees of the workshop. Course Module 5 System Design using Embedded Microcontroller 1. Basics of embedded microcontrollers. 2. Architecture of ATMEGA AVR MuC. 3. Introduction to CodeVisionAVR (Compiler and programmer). 4. Compiling the code and programming the MuC using JTAG cable. 5. Highlights of the GUI configuration mode of codevisionAVR. 6. Basic input/output interfacing with ATMEGA32 7. 16x2 LCD interfacing with ATMEGA32. 8. 4x4 keypad interfacing. 9. Serial communication interface. 10. On chip ADC interfacing and internal timers. “RISC MuC Kit” mentioned at the back will be used. Kit will be provided in lab only; it is not take away kit. Course Module 6 Digital Design on CPLD 1. Basics of digital design and high level components. 2. Introduction to VHDL. 3. Basics of CPLD and FPGA. 4. Introduction to Xilinx CPLD XC9572. 5. Introduction to ModelSim and Xilinx ISE. 6. Design of following components in VHDL and implementation on the kit: a. Half and full adder/subtractor. b. Encoder and decoder c. MUX and DEMUX d. Ripple carry adder. e. Counters and shift registers. “CPLD XC9572” kit mentioned at the back will be used. Duration: 4 days. (20 hours) Kit will be provided only in lab. It is not a take away kit.
