  • 2. What is Scopus?
    • Scopus , officially named SciVerse Scopus , is a bibliographic database containing abstracts and citations for academic journal articles. It covers nearly 18,000 titles including coverage of 16,500 peer-reviewed journals. It is owned by Elsevier and is available online by subscription. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scopus )
  • 3. Is Scopus the only one? Google Scholar Web of Science SCOPUS
    • SCOPUS = 20% more coverage than Web of Science
    • Web of Science goes back to 1900 compared to SCOPUS (from 1966)
    • Google Scholar is rather inaccurate

  • 6. How do you read that???
    • Q1 indicates highest quality, while Q4 is the lowest.
    • US & European countries tend to be more selective
    • ASEAN based and African journals tend to LOOK for articles (less-selective).
    • Read Q1 articles and try to write for Q4 journals
  • 7. If you want to see whether a journal is Scopus-indexed or not, use JOURNAL SEARCH

    • Search for journals BEFORE you start writing the article, and eliminate as you write!
    • Cite articles from the journal you want to submit to (favored by journals looking to increase citation)
    • If citation is very hard since similar articles is rare/non-existent, then perhaps you have the wrong journal to submit to.
