Anil Potti attended St. Patrick’s High School from 1977 to 1987 and thereafter enrolled at the LJF
College (Secunderabad) whereby he completed his undergraduate studies in Biology, Physics and
Chemistry (Majors) in 1989. Afterward, he earned his Bachelor of Medicine & Surgery degree from
Christian Medical College & Hospital, Vellore. He obtained board-certification in Medical Oncology in
2007. During his career, Anil Potti was associated with many organizations including Alpha Omega
Alpha Honor Society, American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Association of Cancer
Research and CALGB Correlative Science Committee.
The Cancer and Leukemia Group B Leukemia Correlative Science Committee (LCSC) has been a
leading name in correlative science for adult leukemia for twenty five years. Initially, this committee
focused on the use of immunophenotyping for diagnosis and prognosis of acute myeloid leukemia and
acute lymphoblastic leukemia. However, for the last fifteen years, it has been focusing on the clinical
use of cytogenetic and molecular genetic markers in acute lymphoblastic leukemia and acute myeloid
leukemia, and in chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
Anil Potti is the recipient of numerous awards, such as Alpha Omega Alpha, Outstanding Teacher of
the year Award, Leonard P. Tow Humanism in Medicine award, Robert Silber Research Prize, AACR
Translational Research Excellence award, Burroughs Wellcome Physician award, Jimmy V Foundation
Translational Research award, and more. He has many years of professional experience during which
he has held various key positions in different academic institutions and medical organizations. From
2000 to 2003, he worked as Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine of UND School of
Medicine & Health Sciences.
