Easter is a very important holiday in Poland. During Easterpeople spend time with their families and friends. BeforeEaster people prepare coloured eggs called „pisanki” andtraditional dishes like „żurek” – a special soup.
Holy week lasts from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday. OnPalm Sunday people take palms to church to be blessed.On Easter Saturday people go to church to bless theirfood.
On Easter Sunday people go to church to celebrateResurrection of Jesus Christ. After mass people go backhome and have traditional Easter meal which consists ofhard boiled eggs, cold meat and salads. After thatchildren go to check their gifts.
On Wet Monday children go outside and pour water on oneanother. Older men go to pour water or perfumes onwomen. This tradition is called „śmingus-dyngus”.
