My responsibilities included: Preparation of tender and prequalification documents in compliance with PPDA procurement guidelines, selling, delivering with installation of equipments, reagents and chemicals to various clients making sure that the clients are satisfied with the service. Where the client had no expertise in the equipment he needed, I would assist in developing and organizing specifications, including identifying where the items whose specifications matched could be obtained so that the sales and marketing department I managed could work at meeting the client’s needs. In the two years, I had acquired a number of businesses such as: • Supply of fifty Zeiss Primostar microscopes to Ministry of Health • Supply of water bath, analytical balance, two portable pH meters, a biofuge centifuge to National Agricultural Research Organization, Mbarara • Supply of a Gas chromatograph with a multiple gas generator to Kyambogo University • Supply of a materials testing microscope with a video camera to National Drug Authority

Janan Luwum SS, KampalaPOSITION: TeacherRESPONBILITIES: Still teaching chemistry and Biology at both O’ & A’ levels where on joining, I became the Sole chemistry teacher in all S4 streams, and the chemistry and Biology teacher of S6 class, both candidate classes. I am also teaching the S5 science class too the same subjects.2002 – 2008 Greenhill Academy, KampalaPOSITION: Laboratory TechnicianRESPONSIBLITIES: Worked as a technician without specialization in all the three science departments in the school for both O’ & A’ levels. For the departments of chemistry, physics and biology, the following during duties were performed: • Organizing practicals for normal class learning at both O and A. • Preparation of reagents and solutions to be used in Chemistry at both O and A levels. • Checking and repairing of laboratory equipments. • Calibrating laboratory apparatus. • Worked hand in hand with various science subject teachers of both O and A levels in teaching mostly the practical components, and once in a while, the theory when asked.
  • 5. OTHER DUTIES PERFORMED:2004 - Todate: Work on a part-time basis strictly on Saturdays, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm as a chemist at Aliyzeco Industries, manufacturers of skin and hair cosmetic products. I carriedout industrial trainings for the first and second years of the degree programme from the same industry. The following are the duties performed: • I provide guidance on the quality control on hair and skin cosmetic products. • I am very instrumental in the improvement of the quality of products and in the development of new products. • I conduct research in expensive and readily unavailable raw material substitution with cheaper and locally readily available alternatives, and develop resultant workable formulations. • I develop and put in place good manufacturing practices in the cosmetic industry.NB: I am currently closely working with the Faculty of Science, Kyambogo University inestablishing the course unit in Cosmetic Science and Technology in the ongoing Bachelorof Science degree in Science Technology in Chemistry.
