  • Assertion  Rachel Carson was a significant scientist, because she made important contributions in the field of science
  • Evidence #1  “Biologist Rachel Carson alerted the world to the environmental impact of fertilizers and pesticides.”
  • Explanation #1  Rachel Carson alarmed the world so that they could be protected from the chemicals in the fertilizers and pesticides in the environment. This supports that Rachel Carson has made a difference in the environment
