What’s the Problem? 34 million adults in America would have trouble reading this statement.Sadly, this statistic is not improving much with the next generation. In fact, one in three young adults will not graduate from high school this year, andthose that do graduate are not necessarily equipped with the reading and writing skills that they need to achieve success in a career or highereducation. Low literacy rates produce a feeling of detachment from ones community. Crime, unemployment, poverty, and other serious social problems result.
What’s the solution? The good news is, we can change these statistics! The Kid Scoop News publication was founded on the belief that supplying students with a fun and engaging learning resource at a young age ultimately produces literate, socially responsible citizens who are active in their communities. Our programs use kid-friendly materials to encouragestudent writing, initiate greater civic participation, and promote awareness of local, national, and international news.
Our Mission For Children:To celebrate and encourage reading and learning for elementary students in order tobuild a solid academic foundation for our children, our future leaders and workforce. For Communities:To educate young people about the issues that confront their communities, and thus inspire greater civic awareness, engagement, and citizenship. What’s the Solution?Be a Community Partner and participate in the Kid Scoop News publication for local students, teachers and parents.
