During the Depression , if a family could not afford to pay rent they lost their home. Soup kitchens were established for many of the families that couldnt afford a meal. There was a horrible drought on many farms which soon was called “Dust Bowl”
Even though it was for a short amount of time, many Americans were able to escape by entertainment. They would go to the movies or sit and listen to one of many radio programs.
