Older domain names are better
Need long time to expire on domain name

Long tail keywords are generally best
Less expensive PPC
Easier to rank for

On-page SEO
Important to do before link building
Cheaper PPC
Better organic ranking
Many different things to optimize
Meta title and description (meta keywords not important)
Alt text for images
Text
H1, h2, h3 tags
Inlinks
SEF URLs
Sitemaps
Keyword density

Directory submittals
Not as important as it used to be
Don’t waste your time on big blast directory submittals
Directories are generally not relevant and are devalued by Google
That said, submit to:
Yahoo directory
Dmoz.org

Link building
After completing all the previous steps, this will by far have the most impact on your SERPs
Should be from relevant sites with high PR
Need good keyword anchor text
