Compare and contrast 4 different versions of the myth of Persephone & the pomegranate seeds.
    9. And we are going to...
account for the differences between those versions by identifying purpose, audience and text features.
    10. Version #1: Prose
      Anthony Horowitz
    11. Version #2: Animation
    12. How are these two versions of the myth similar?
      How are they different?
    13. The purpose of a text shapes its content.
purpose = ‘why’ the text was created.

Are the first 2 versions of the myth we’ve looked at designed to serve the same purpose?
    15. The target audience for a text will also shape its content.
audience = ‘who’ the text was created for.
    16. Audience
Describe what you think the intended audience is for Horowitz’ story version and the animated version.
      Are they the same?
      How do you know?
    17. Once the purpose and target audience have been identified, the writer can create a text with features which will make it more likely to be successful.
Text features = ‘what’ the text is like (its type and content).
    18. Text features
The choice of words / images and their effect
    19. Version #3:
What is the likely purpose of a poem?
Can we figure out the audience before we’ve read the poem?
What are some of the writing features that are often used in poetry?
    20. Version #4: ?
    21. I believe that this text’s main purposeis to…
One feature that suggests this is…
      The target audience is probably…
I came to this conclusion having noticed that…
    22. Blockbuster!
Imagine that you are a Hollywood movie casting director. You have a HUGE budget and have been asked to put together your wish list for a new project.
The studio is making a blockbuster of the myth of Persephone and the pomegranate seeds – who will you cast in the lead roles? Be ready to justify your choices!
    23. The 7 Seeds
You are a film critic and have been invited to attend a premiere and then write a review for the upcoming release of the new blockbuster movie ‘The 7 Seeds’.
As you know, it has some of the best actors in Hollywood and some amazing special effects.
    24. Film Review – writing features
Don’t give the ending away but offer some teaser information about the plot!
You should then comment on what you think were the good and bad elements of the film.
You might mention individual performances, the soundtrack, special effects, costuming, scenery etc.
You will then conclude by offering an overall judgement on the quality of the film – you may recommend it or warn people to avoid it like the plague!
