  • 1. Class 6 2 mark questions: 1. Give three examples of Mobile Computers. The three examples of mobile computers are laptops, tablets, and personal data assistants (PDAs). 2. Name three places where Micro computers are used. Microcomputers are used in homes, colleges, and offices. 3. What are Bar code readers used for ? Bar code readers are used to scan the bar code on each product and input it into the computer. 4. Write two uses of Smart Cards. Smart cards are used in the receivers of satellite television and are also used in departmental stores to keep a track of points earned by the customers. 5. What is System Software ? System software refers to programs designed to control the operation of a computer system. 6. What are the different categories of System Software ? The different categories of system software are operating systems, drivers, interpreters, compilers, and assemblers. 7. What is the difference between compilers and Interpreters ? A compiler is a program that translates a program written in a high-level computer language into a program in machine language whereas an interpreter is a program that translates one statement of a high-level language program into machine code and executes it. 8. List four types of application software and give one example of each type. The four types of application software are: Database management system: Oracle accounting packages: Tally Antivirus software: Quick Heal Backup software: Box backup 9. What is the use of Braille Printer ? A Braille printer or embosser produces Braille printouts (patterns of raised dots) of computer files. It works with a software that translates text to Braille. 10. What is a Plotter ? A Plotter is a printing device that is used for creating high-quality graphics, charts, graphs, tables and diagrams. They are commonly used in Computer-aided Design (CAD) and Computer-aided Manufacturing (CAM) for printing out plans for houses, machinery etc..

Package is a computer application consisting of one or more programs to do a particular type of work whereas Utility is a program designed to perform maintenance work on the system or on system components. 12. The application software programs usually installed in school computers are: Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, Paint, Adobe Photoshop, Flash etc.. 13. What is the Operating System installed in your Computer. Give few examples. Microsoft Windows 7 is the operating system that is generally installed on the school computers. Header Footer A Header is text that is printed at the top of each page in a document. A Footer is printed at the bottom of each page in a document. 2. What are the steps to edit or delete a header or footer ? Double-click in the header or footer. Edit or delete the text as required. Click Close Header or Footer in the ribbon or press Esc. 3. Differentiate between Footers and Footnotes. Footer is the text that is repeated at the bottom of each page, whereas footnote is a note at the bottom of a page that links to text on that page.

It indicates that the additional information is found in the corresponding footnote or endnote. 5. Give few examples of the information that a header or footer may contain. Header and Footer usually contain information such as the document name, chapter name, page number, and date. 6. What is the quickest way to edit the header or footer of a document ? Double–clicking the header or footer is the quickest way to edit the header or footer. 7. What are endnotes ? Endnote is a note at the end of a document that links to text in the document. 8. What do you mean by data source ? Data source is the document with the variable data that will be inserted into the main document during the merge. 9. What is a merge field ? A merge field is a placeholder in the main document that marks where a value will be inserted from the data source. 10. List the main steps involved in mail merge. Mail merge involves three main steps: Creating the main document, creating the data source, and merging the main document with the data source. 5 mark questions: 11. The list of shapes appears.  Click the required shape.  Click on the side and drag the cursor to expand the shape. 9. What is WordArt Style ? WordArt Style helps you add fancy text to the presentation. You can change text style and color, and add special effects to the text input. 10. What is a Photo Album ? A Photo Album is a PowerPoint Presentation that you create to display photographs. 11. What is the use of the Auto Preview box on the Custom Animation pane ? What the steps to attach a file to an e-mail message. The steps to attach a fi le to an e-mail message are: Click Attachment on the compose message screen. The Choose File to Upload dialog box appears. Locate and select the fi le that you want to attach, and then click Open. 9. What is the purpose of a web browser ?
