    • Specific Example of IDB’s Recent Intervention IDB’s CARICOM – Brazil Tourism and Trade Promotion Initiative, which focused on conducting an evaluation of the TOURISM potential for Brazilian visitors to the Caribbean. IDB is now in the process of implementing a similar project for the China market. It is suggested that similar Initiatives be also developed for the Eastern Europe – Asia market as well as for India.
    • Access funding under the 11th European Development Fund to develop strategies to build non- traditional markets as well as to increase visitor arrivals from traditional source markets.
    • There is the requirement for budgetary support to facilitate the lowering of airport taxes with the resultant decrease in ticket costs and the expected increase in intra-regional visitor travel thereby ultimately increasing pubic sector revenue as a result of increased Economic Activity.
    • Fiscal consolidation is important but GROWTH trumps all and TOURISM has the greatest potential to so do! Building a regional market with provide scale and generate greater interest for Foreign Direct Investments. Let’s approach our tourism development from a TIME SHARING perspective: with a multi- destination approach we all can share in the BENEFITS!
