  • THE LAWF AMBASSADOR OUTREACH CAMPAIGN The goal of the LAWF Ambassador Outreach campaign is to generate word-of-mouth excitement for LAWF and to raise funds that will allow us to build“Pavilion Zero.”The Pavilion will act as the headquarters and the event center for LAWF, providing a dedicated venue for meetings, conferences, presentations, and events throughout the development and implementation of the entire Los Angeles World’s Fair. Pavilion Zero is LAWF’s epicenter and we’re thrilled to experience it with you in the near future. As an Ambassador you are responsible for outreach to your named organization(s)/ group(s)/company(s). We empower you to share the vision of the LAWF along with a specific call to action to contribute to the current Crowdfunding campaign. Each Ambassador organization/group/company that contributes will be highlighted on one of the 88 Days of crowdfunding with the goal to engage and mobilize their constituents to support LAWF. The call to action is simple: spread the word through social media, ask their constituents to contribute to crowdfunding, and sign up for a corporate partnership, individual member or join a flex team. Here is how to get started: Use your Ambassador Campaign Assets and official LAWF resources/ messaging to reach out to your targets. (Note: Please do not alter or modify the LAWF logo in anyway. See Dotty for additional questions or needs). Identify and communicate with the key decision makers at your Organizations. We recommend those people fall into the following categories within each organization: Your friendly contact. A senior executive or decision maker who can mobilize their stakeholders. A PR or Marketing person who will understand the value and opportunity that such a venture has to offer their brand. Work with Dotty Kaminsky to be assigned a day and specific directions for announcing your organizations support. You will need to ask them for their brand logo. Report feedback to LAWF so that we may help you through the process. HOW TO SUPPORT THE LOS ANGELES WORLD’S FAIR, A CALL TO ACTION: Spread the word through Social Media – Tweet, Post, Like This is a viral campaign. One of the main tools and platforms to grow awareness of LAWF will be the importance of utilizing social media channels. • 1. WHAT IS A WORLD’S FAIR? A world’s fair is a celebration of cultural diversity, technological innovation, and human accomplishment,. It brings the world together in one location to illuminate a city and a nation’s transformation and achievement. Every world’s fair celebrates a theme that is socially relevant and prescient. 2. WHAT IS THE LOS ANGELES WORLD’S FAIR? If previous world’s fairs have been huge parties, the LA World’s Fair will be the Project X of international expositions. While still promoting technology and culture, this world’s fair is all about connectivity. Los Angeles County stretches across 88 cities, and for the first time ever, all of them will come together via transitoriented structural innovation and unprecedented distribution of fairgrounds. 3. WHEN IS THE LOS ANGELES WORLD’S FAIR? Previous world’s fairs have lasted from a few weeks to six months. This world’s fair will go above and beyond by lasting two years. At present, our intention is to launch the LA World’s Fair at the end of the Rose Parade in 2022 and hand off to LA’s hopeful Olympic bid in 2024. 4. WHERE EXACTLY IS IT GOING TO BE? The Los Angeles World’s Fair will take place across the Greater Los Angeles Area, emphasizing the idea of a connected city. Historically, world’s fairs have had one or two fairgrounds where pavilions are concentrated and most of the activity takes place. The LA World’s Fair will have multiple pods and pavilions dispersed throughout the 88 incorporated cities in Los Angeles County along new transit infrastructure. 5. WHAT IS PAVILION ZERO? Pavilion Zero will be the Los Angeles World’s Fair’s initial operational epicenter and informational locus. The pavilion will act as headquarters and event center for the Fair, providing a dedicated venue for meetings, conferences, presentations, and events throughout the development and implementation of the entire project. It will set the agenda for all participating pavilions spread throughout 88 cities, demonstrating cuttingedge infrastructure and communication technology, immersive and participatory media, community sensitivity and transportation connectivity, the promise of the fully developed LA World’s Fair to come. 6. IS THIS CONNECTED TO THE BIE? TheBureauofInternationalExpositionsisanintergovernmental regulatory organization, dating from 1928, that oversees world expos. The United States currently is not a member nation of the BIE. Multiple world’s fairs kicked off planning and media outreach without seeking BIE approval and later determined how they would receive an approval from the BIE.We are going to follow in the footsteps of the other greatest world’s fairs and will endeavor to assure that we secure their full support. 7. HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO ATTEND? Our expectation is for pricing to be attractive to people of all walks of life and affordable for everyone in Los Angeles and for every visitor to our city. By contrast, Olympic games, music festivals, and major sporting events typically have limited tickets that cost upwards of $1,000 while certainVIP events may have premium ticket pricing. Our pricing schema is designed so that everyone can attend this fair. However, anyone who buys a Titanium Membership now gets 50% off entry passes and other exclusive deals. Much like the Olympic games, there will be single purchases and ticket prices, so we will emulate best practices when it comes to those smaller rates. 8. WHAT DO YOU DO IN A WORLD’S FAIR? Aworld’sfairallowsyoutocatchaglimpseofthefuture.Whether it be riding hyperloop buses that take you from Downtown LA to Santa Monica in under three minutes, viewing models and plans for the highspeed rail line that will run from LA to San Francisco by 2029, or virtually meeting someone in Istanbul via hologram, the LA World’s Fair will display innovations in connectivity and transportation like never seen before. Have a taste of the cultural diversity our city prides itself on. Enjoy music, art, and performances in the entertainment capital of the world. Most of all, relish in the past achievements of this historic city while reveling in the bright future ahead. 9. WHAT WILL BE THE ECONOMIC IMPACT ON LOS ANGELES? The LA World’s Fair will be the greatest peacetime stimulus in the history of the US. We expect this exposition to create hundreds of thousands of jobs and pump billions of dollars into the economy. We are preparing an economic study that will detail the momentous impact, and full quantification will come from economists after our crowdfunding campaign is underway. It will also create more investment in construction, development, engineering, and architecture than any other peacetime project in the US. 10. WHAT WILL THIS MEAN FOR TRAFFIC AND PARKING? We know that any moderately sized event in LA—from a Kings game to a Miley Cyrus concert—means hell for traffic and parking in the area. That’s why we want to be sure to clear up any misconceptions that may start to form around traffic surrounding the LA World’s Fair. Indeed, there will be many tourists and visitors from around the world to witness global history in the making. But the theme of the fair itself revolves around transit. This world’s fair was born of a belief that only with new zoning and new methods of urban design and civic planning can we cure the ills of our horrible traffic problem in LA. We expect the fair to encourage new legislation that will actually change how people get around the city and how construction and development will be centered around transit in a way that will solve the nation’s worst traffic problem. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
  • 11. HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL COME TO THE LOS ANGELES WORLD’S FAIR? We expect 100 million people, from every state in the Union, from 100 countries, and from every city in California. 12. WHEN WAS THE LAST WORLD’S FAIR IN THE UNITED STATES? Many people worldwide can recall the 1982 World’s Fair held in Knoxville, Tennessee, which was themed “Energy Turns the World” and opened with a visit from then President Ronald Reagan. Because it was eclipsed by the 1984 Olympics in LA, few might be able to name the most recent world’s fair in the US, the 1984 Louisiana World Exposition held in New Orleans. 13. WHAT IS A CALIFORNIA FLEXIBLE PURPOSE CORPORATION? WHY DID THE LOS ANGELES WORLD’S FAIR CHOOSE THIS FORM OF CORPORATION? A World’s Fair involves an enormous amount of people, organization, and funding. In the US, our fairs and expos are not directly funded by the US government, so the most efficient way to identify, organize, and fund the necessary resources is by creating a corporation and generating funds by selling shares. (For example, in 1935, in during the Great Depression, a group of New York City retired policemen decided to create an international exposition to lift the city and the country out of depression. Not long after, these men formed the New York World’s Fair Corporation, whose office was in the Empire State Building, which had just been completed.) Until recently, entrepreneurs who wanted to do social or environmental good had to choose between setting up a for profit corporation that could not have social good as their primary purpose or a nonprofit that was able to do social good but not make a profit. All that changed in 2012, when California became the first state to offer social entrepreneurship through organizations that want to make money and do good, an alternate corporate structure called a California Flexible Purpose Corporation. With its mandate of social good for Los Angeles and its need to attract large amounts of funding from multiple sources, the flexible purpose corporation was a perfect fit for the LA World’s Fair. 14. HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED? Tell us what you’re interested in doing, join a Flex Team, or purchase a Titanium, 88’s, or Millennial Membership. Birthed from the idea of a flexible purpose corporation, a Flex Team is a flexible, nimble, and fluid committee around which all LA World’s Fair planning operates. We share our skills, backgrounds, and visions in collaborative teams that meet to address certain tasks but can be reorganized when a specific need arises (e.g., Marketing/Communications gave birth to Crowdfunding). Our current FlexTeams include: Crowdfunding, Marketing/Communications (MarCom), NonProfit/Education/ Government (NPEG), Design/Mapping/Planning/Construction (DMPC), International Trade/Commerce/Culture (ITCC), and Finance. 16. HOW WOULD I JOIN A FLEX TEAM? Email us at info@laworldsfair.org, or contact our Executive Director at dkaminsky@laworldsfair.org. 17. WHAT DO I GET WITH A TITANIUM MEMBERSHIP? Titanium members will rub elbows with world leaders at gala style parties, attend pop-up performances by iconic celebrities, and dine on opening nights of world class restaurants. There will also be additional discounts and benefits like any other exclusive club. Act fast! This is a limited time offer and only the first 2,000 applicants will be accepted to receive this VIP status. 18. WHAT DO I GET WITH AN 88’S MEMBERSHIP? Named after our goal to connect the 88 incorporated cities in Greater Los Angeles, the 88’s Membership is intended to be affordable to every Angeleno. The 88’s Membership comes with many opportunities for discounts and exclusive access to events, including many of the perks of the Titanium Membership 19. WHAT IS A MILLENNIAL MEMBERSHIP? The Millennial Membership is for students and young people who can provide 44 hours of involvement and $44 to support the cause (see our pattern here?). The LA World’s Fair would not be possible without the Millennial Generation, which is expected to comprise most of the visiting demographic. 20.WHAT ARETHE LASTING EFFECTS OFTHE FAIR ON LOS ANGELES? The Fair will be an information database for planned legislative initiatives to combat greenhouse gas emissions and urban sprawl, lead to more efficient use of our precious water and fuel reserves, and generally make us more mindful citizens. In addition, many of the structures and infrastructure built for the Fair will be converted to public use after the event—a physical legacy to serve our communities for future generations. • Letter from the Chairman: As a founding board member of the Los Angeles World’s Fair FPC, I would like to personally thank you for your support of our initiative as an Official Ambassador of the LA World’s Fair 2022. The Fair’s theme is The Connected City, and this connectivity would not be possible without your cooperation and preparation over the past few months. Heading into the next few months, the most frenetic but exciting part of our grassroots promotion of the Fair will take place, and it begins next week. In August, LAWF 2022 launches its crowdfunding campaign. That date also marks the beginning of the Official Ambassador Outreach Campaign, an 88-day promotion of the
Fair to generate a groundswell of enthusiasm and awareness for LAWF 2022 and ultimately to raise the funds needed for the construction of what we call“Pavilion Zero,”LAWF’s future headquarters. This is where you come in. I am asking you, an Ambassador who has already taken the leap of faith, to jump on board in this next phase of our mission by publicly announcing your support. We need both individuals’ and organizations’ involvement. Every day during the 88-day campaign, a new organization will announce its support for the Fair and encourage the masses to donate to the crowdfunding campaign. On your designated day, we would like your liaison organization to make an announcement either promoting or endorsing LAWF 2022 and the crowdfunding campaign. Enclosed you will find a toolkit to make the announcement, including: A template letter for you to modify when making your initial outreach to your
identified organizations, non-profits, leagues, and corporations Guidelines to promote the LAWF crowdfunding campaign, as well as social media
tools to use to spread the word Membership and corporate partnership opportunities for consideration
With great excitement and honor, we thank you for being such a loyal and passionate Ambassador. We greatly appreciate all your help. Please let us know if you have any questions. We are here to guide and support your efforts on behalf of LAWF 2022.
 Best, Bob Vanech

  • Dear_________, Today, I am proud to invite you to become part of an epic event that not only connects all of Los Angeles County’s unique cities and their special attributes, but connects LA with the rest of the world: The Los Angeles World Fair (LAWF). The theme of the fair is “LA: The Connected City” and seeks to do it on every level – from the physical to the cultural, logistical, and technological. I have pledged my support to the dynamic group of people who are responsible for bringing the World’s Fair to Los Angeles. Now, I’m reaching out to you and ORG NAME to ask you to take this journey with us. The existing network of LAWF investors, city officials, celebrities, non-profit leaders, artists, and community organizers already lets us know that we have something truly special to offer and support. However, for LAWF 2022 to be the most authentic, culturally inclusive, socially empowering, and economically beneficial event ever, we need your support along with that of your constituency and your community. On August XX, 2014, the Los Angeles World’s Fair team launches an 88 day crowdfunding campaign representative of the 88 cities that make up Los Angeles County. Our mission is to generate a groundswell of enthusiasm and awareness for LAWF 2022, to sign up as many organizations and people as possible and ultimately to raise the funds needed for the construction of what we call“Pavilion Zero,”LAWF’s headquarters. Pledging your support is as simple as committing to this campaign and it is critical to making this dream come true for Los Angeles. We need you to reach out and gain the support of those in your network. This can happen on many levels: from encouraging individuals to donate to our crowdfunding campaign; to connecting with communications and marketing departments within your organization to spread the news through your social media and marketing channels. Enclosed are all the details on who, what, where when and why…. But its starts with the“who”and the“who”is YOU. Enclosed you will find: Information about the Los Angeles World’s Fair Story Leadership Guidelines to promote the LAWF crowdfunding campaign and social media tools to spread the word FAQ’s With great excitement and honor, I thank you for your time and consideration and hope you will join the effort to bring the Los Angeles World Fair to our great city in 2022. • By all accounts, Los Angeles can be described as a truly amazing city. People from all corners of the world come here to live, work, learn, and play. The size and breadth of its international citizenry is matched only by the distinctive place it holds in the hearts and imaginations of people all over the world. Yet in recent years this shining City has lost some of its luster. Nowhere is this more evident than across the congested streets and freeways that have become its Achilles heel. The car culture that helped drive the City forward for over a half-century has run its course. Traffic congestion has literally become a liability, threatening the cultural vibrancy and economic future of Los Angeles. The good news is the City is not standing idle. A new multi-billion dollar transit system is in full gear, and will continue to expand over the next decade. The not-so- good news is the love affair Angelenos have with the automobile runs deep with some. However, we believe there is an opportunity to not only get people out of their cars and integrate public transit into the fabric of the City, but also leverage the connective and transformative qualities of a transit system to significantly improve the social, cultural and economic condition of Los Angeles on a grand scale. Much grander than widening a freeway or buildingabridge---butrather,redesigningandredefining the entire city around the new transit map and holding the biggest event the city, and country has ever seen. The City will become the premier example of urban livability, sustainability and mobility showcased by a World’s Fair. It’s a BHAG (big, hairy, audacious goal) that requires an emotional catalyst and a monumental framework for galvanizing support on a huge scale. Historically, World’s Fairs, also known as World Expos, have acted in such fashion. They have fueled the aspirations of the host city serving as a platform for cultural exchange and a springboard into the future by showcasing the best and brightest the World has to offer. Ever the iconoclast, this City’s version of a World’s Fair will be significantly different from any other. Its world- class pavilions, innovative installations, and multifaceted events will be located around various metro stops along the transit system—with a retina scan or iPhone serving as your ticket. All locations will be designed to serve local communities long after the Fair has come and gone. The developmentperiodwillusherinaneweraofpartnership between community, business and government. Even the organization spearheading it is unique: incorporated in 2013 as a Flexible Purpose Corporation, we are a new type of California Corporation that is a hybrid with elements of both for-profit and non-profit. After its two- year epic run, the Los Angeles World’s Fair will catalyze an unprecedented level of meaningful and lasting change throughout the metropolitan area. It’s only fitting that the central theme of the Fair is The Connected City. After all, bringing people, places and things together is a core attribute of a transit system. While connecting people to people (from the local to the global), people to ideas, ideas to possibilities, and possibilities to realities, as well as connecting this City to the world as never before, is what the Los AngelesWorld’s Fair will be all about.
