    • Clean Green L.A. 2020 Initiative Entrepreneurship | Economic Development | Education | Empowerment | Engagement Social Entrepreneurship Social entrepreneurship is the process of pursuing innovative solutions to social problems. More specifically, social entrepreneurs adopt a mission to create and sustain social value. They relentlessly pursue opportunities to serve this mission, while continuously adapting and learning. They draw upon appropriate thinking in both the business and nonprofit worlds and operate in all kinds of organizations: large and small; new and old; religious and secular; nonprofit, for-profit, and hybrid Economic Development Economic development generally refers to the sustained, concerted actions of policy makers and communities that promote the standard of living and economic health of a specific area. Economic development is also referred to as the quantitative and qualitative changes in the economy. Such actions can involve multiple areas including development of human capital, critical infrastructure, regional competitiveness, environmental sustainability, social inclusion, health, safety, literacy, and other initiatives. K-20 STEM Education Initiatives STEM fields or STEM education is an acronym for the fields of study in the categories of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The term is typically used in addressing education policy and curriculum choices in schools from kindergarten through college to improve the nation’s competitiveness in technology development. It has implications for workforce development, national security concerns and immigration policy. Youth, Women and Emancipated Empowerment Programs Empowerment refers to increasing the spiritual, political, social, educational, gender, or economic strength of individuals and communities. Civic Engagement Civic engagement is a means of working together to make a difference in the civic life of our communities and developing the combination of skills, knowledge, values, and motivation in order to make that difference. it means promoting a quality of life in a community, through both political and non-political processes.
