hcsmeucamp: an open letter to sponsors What is Healthcare Social Media Europe? In August 2009 two people from different European countries who shared a belief that social media could revolutionize healthcare by increasing patient focus, improving access to healthcare services and gathering high quality patient outcome data stumbled upon one another using the self-same media they perceived so much potential in. They discovered that they shared a conviction that social media had the potential to augment the targeting of medical research, improve the quality and delivery of care, and advance patient education and empowerment. They also believed that there were equally committed, passionate, and creative individuals engaged in healthcare-related activities across Europe. In August 2009, they founded Healthcare Social Media Europe in order to test their hypothesis. They were right. Twenty-five meetings later, the Healthcare Social Media Europe community has grown to more than 140 active members with diverse backgrounds and interests from across Europe (as well as the USA) who participate in a weekly online event. What is happening? On 31st March 2010, Healthcare Social Media Europe is holding its inaugural face-to-face meeting in Berlin. Why are you writing to me? In order to make this event happen, we need your financial support. Why should I support this event? Through your sponsorship, you will further demonstrate your commitment to improving patient information and care in Europe through the effective use of social media. By supporting a movement aimed at lobbying for a constructive discussion with regulators on this topic, you become a prominent partner of a thought leader community striving to drive change. Healthcare Social Media Europe is considered to be a progressive, contemporary community of thought leaders in European healthcare communications. It is forging an agenda-defining reputation, and aspires to step up to a lobbying role in the near future. By supporting us in the present, it is our hope that you will become part of our future. Please consider supporting our aims through your sponsorship. What sort of levels of sponsorship are you suggesting? We are suggesting four levels of tiered sponsorship: €100, €500, €1,000 and €2,000 What do I get for my money? Sponsors’ logos, featuring embedded links to a URL of their choice, will feature prominently above the fold of the conference website (launch imminent). The pixel width dimensions of the logo will correspond to the level of sponsorship (75, 100, 150 and 200 respectively). Sponsors’ logos and/or an acknowledgment of support will feature on all communications and enduring materials. The event will be promoted widely before, during and after the day itself across a variety of media. By the very nature of their interest, it is to be anticipated that participants, physical and virtual, will provide a signif icant amount of coverage of the event. Allied groups across social media environments have also been generous in their reportage of Healthcare Social Media Europe initiatives. A full steering committee has been convened in order to ensure that the event is promoted fully, and that its outputs are recorded and disseminated effectively.
