  • Programs
    • Each year the NHS provides the school and Tuxedo and Greenwood Lake communities with the following programs:
        • Blood Drive
        • Fall and Spring Inductions
        • Food Drive
        • Coat Drive
        • Babysitting Night
        • Volleyball Tournament
        • Student Teacher Day
        • Academic Awards Recognition Ceremony
        • *Many Others*
  • Nationally, about 9% of High school students are NHS members
  • At Tuxedo High School, about 30% of 11 th and 12 th graders are NHS members.

  • Programs
    • Blood Drive
      • Every year the National Honor Society runs a blood drive that has shown amazing results over the years
  • Volunteering
    • All 63 members of the National Honor Society (NHS) volunteer their time in order to help their communities.
    • The NHS requires each student to do a minimum of 45 hours of service each year.
    • This year the students in the Tuxedo NHS will provide a minimum of 2835 hours of service in total.
  • School Based Programs
    • The NHS Members provide tutoring for students who are in need of extra help.
    • Student Teacher Day
    • Honor Recognition Celebration
    • Academic Awards Recognition Ceremony
    • Gift to Graduating Class
    • *Many Others*
  • Community Outreach
    • Food Drive- Annually, we have collected an average of 2400 items of food for the Greenwood Lake and Sloatsburg food pantries.
    • Coat Drive- The Coat Drive is in progress. We have collected hundreds of items thus far this year. Donations are provided to local shelters and churches.
    • Blood Drive- We run 2 blood drives per year
    • Carry You Organization- Annually, we have made a $750 donation to students in South Africa whose parents have died of AIDS for the student to continue their education.
    • Community Families in need- We have assisted with collecting holiday gifts for families in need in our community and helped the Interact Club with the Giving Tree.
    • Babysitting Night- We host up to 50 children from GGM annually so their parents can do holiday shopping. While there, the children make crafts to send to the senior citizens at Promenade and the senior center in Greenwood Lake.
