  1. 1. Add an Opt-In Form and Squeeze Page To Your Blog for Automation and Passive Income Source: http://yourbrainonyou.com/opt-in-form-squeeze-page-blog/ By Drew Doggett Over-the-shoulder videos at the bottom of this page! So you just started and finished building your own MLM blog all in one sitting, which I showed you how to do in the last episode. But there’s something really important (and simple) you still need to do that will FULLY turn your blog into a hands-free, “lead generation machine.” And that is: creating an opt-in form and/or a squeeze page. So that your blog can suck In this post we’ll complete your machine. Let’s make magic… MLM magic… using Aweber and Prose (which you should already have set up here). Automated machines… magic… yeah, it all sounds so good. Let me show you “why” this works before I get into the “how.” Let’s talk strategy. Let’s see the wizardry behind this life-changing contraption: the properly functioning MLM blog… Your one and only goal for every visitor to your blog should be to get them on your email list. Lead generation just puts dollars in your pocket. Plain and simple. Given the choice, I would rather pass up an affiliate sale and have that person opt-in to my list instead. Why for, your brain may be wondering? Because when that person opts in to my list, I have the opportunity to make multiple commissions over the course of a lifetime rather than making just a one-time sale. I have the opportunity to connect with and serve that person repeatedly rather than just once. This is crucial. And also fun and rewarding. It’s best and wisest for your business to think in terms of lifetime value as opposed to, “what can I sell this person today?” I know, all the spiritual teachings say that now is the only time we have because the past and the future don’t exist (anymore or yet).
  2. 2. But when it comes to responsible business, think horizon. Look way out in front of you to the distance. Think lifetime. If you’re only going for making money NOW from this visitor you’re leaving MOST of the money on the table and walking away from it. A lifetime of value for your visitor is as good for him/her as a lifetime of money is for you from that same person. It’s a beautiful relationship. I can’t remember where I heard it first, but I’ve heard it numerous times: “A good front-end offer will make you a living; a good back-end offer will make you wealthy.” I don’t know about you, but when I first heard that, I had a big “Aha!” moment. My brain lit up with the power of the sun. “OK, Drew, you’ve made your point… so how do I get these leads from my traffic?” Like this, I say: On each and every post or page of your site, have at least one opportunity for your visitors to opt-in to your list/webform. Use a “call to action” for your blog readers to opt-in… using clear, strong (and even irresistable) “commands” or statements. Offer something free and unique in exchange for their email, like a free video or report. This is known as an ethical bribe. Experiment and test. Try different commands, different headlines, put the calls to action in different places through your posts, try different styles of opt-in boxes, etc. Now, on previous blogs of mine, I’ve even tried a pop-up form. You’ve probably seen these… those things that pop over the content, block your view and ask for your email… Yeah. I stopped using them for two reasons. One, they annoy the crap out of me, so I’m not going to subject my visitors to something I wouldn’t myself approve of. And two, the quality of leads I collected was lower. Which makes sense… The opt-in rate is definitely higher. You can get a hundreds to thousands percent more opt-ins using a pop-up. But many of them opt-in just to get the thing out of the way. They may use fake emails or whatever. So it ended up being a waste of time (but I learned from it!). I’m all about quality over quantity. Always. The best results I’ve found are from putting these calls to action, which direct the reader to a squeeze page, in the middle of or at the end of posts, especially after I’ve made a point about something great. That’s what I’m doing here, now, on this blog.
  3. 3. Also, putting the opt-in form itself in the middle of or the end of each post (with a CTA) works. But I’d rather use just one or the other (opt-in form OR squeeze page) since too many options most often results in inaction or “choice paralysis” (TED Talk). And that’s not cool! So test the method and placement… fiddle around. See what works best for your blog and your style. Alright, so now that you know the strategy — the “why” — let me show you the implementation — the “how.” Your Opt-In Form If you’re not set up with Aweber yet, you can get started for $1 through my partner link here (http://aweber.com/? 403307)… And follow along in the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T84cb0L5IgA Go crazy with this. You see how point and click simple it is. See what looks good for you and discover what To add an opt-in form to your sidebar, if you want to go that route, make sure you’ve created a webform that is narrow enough to fit there and: Go to “Appearance” –> “Widgets” in your blog’s dashboard… … and drag a “Text” box to the sidebar area. Then paste your Aweber form code in there and click “Save.” Then go to your blog and see how it looks! Now let’s build your squeeze page.
  4. 4. Squeeze Page If you haven’t already, download Genesis/Prose from my partner link here (http://bit.ly/1gaNqET). (Or this excellent, built-for-speed free theme (http://themonic.com?ap_id=drewdoggett).) As a bonus, I’ll give you free support and show you how to customize everything like I’ve done. It’s point and click simple. Now that that’s installed, follow along in this video to create your own awesome squeeze pages: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=peoZRpvwu3I Pretty cool, huh. Even though the video is 30 minutes long, it really only takes about half that time (or less). You’ll spend the most time tweaking the headline/text on your squeeze page. There’s also a lot of good mindset and strategy thoughts in the vid… By the way, I mention toward the end that the main goal with every blog post is to get the reader’s email. And the ONLY goal of your squeeze page is to get the reader to give you his/her email address, NOT to sell or over-explain. A critical step of using squeeze pages is tracking where your leads are coming from. And it’s super simple to do, too. Here’s how to track ‘em. (Link coming) Ba-boom. Congratulations, you have now set up YOUR passive income system. You’re sittin’ sweet and you’re prepared. Now all you gotta do is add content and drive traffic and the system will be working in the background. That’s it. I’ll cover adding content and driving traffic (and more) in ongoing posts, so don’t change that channel! Drop me a line below if you have any questions or comments or feedback.
