Evaluation Question 3 - 'Face Your Fears'
1.
2. ‘Face Your Fears’
Production & Distribution
Companies?
0 Produced by ‘ Studios’
0 Distributed by ‘Time Entertainment’.
3. “LIFT GOING UP”
The Film Industry can be thought about in 3 floors/levels
0 1st Floor, we find ‘Local’ film production companies. These
are more well known as smaller independent companies.
0 2nd Floor, we find ‘British’ cinema production companies.
These are more well known for their importance of film
festivals to attract distributors.
0 3rd Floor, we find ‘Hollywood’ conglomerate production
and distribution companies. These are well known for their
GLOBAL dominance of biggest cinema chains.
4. Conglomerate or Independent?
In comparison to other well known Production/Distribution
conglomerate companies seen in ‘Hollywood’ such as
Paramount, Fox, Sony Disney & Universal, the companies used
in ‘Face Your Fears’ are smaller independent companies.
Studios & Time Entertainment are ‘Local’
companies, they are not well known, neither are they
conglomerate companies such as those found in ‘Hollywood’.
Neither do they benefit from numerous investors such as
BFI, Film 4, BBC, Film Culture Fund & Private investors that
‘British’ cinemas grows from.
5. Are they best suited to distributing
‘Face Your Fears’?
I believe that Studios, as well as Time Entertainment are
well suited to distribute my media product because they may not
offer the outpour attention from lots of people around the
world, however it does offer reachable targets to be met.
Studios and Time Entertainment allows small local film
makers to promote their films over the internet. Also, digital
cinema has meant that it is now easier for small, local film makers
to showcase film in cinemas. In this case, localized release
through Studios. Also promising a 250 DVD release and
online videos on VIMEO.
6. “FLOOR REACHED”
Were a local distributer and producer, making full use of the
equipment we do have at offer and NO BUDGET!
The companies used were not ‘Hollywood’ and for these
reasons we cant take advantage of the promises it offers
such as a big budget; big stars and big production values.
They were not ‘British’ and for these reasons we cant get
our film shown at a film festival, nor can we benefit from TV
releases to distribute our film. But as a ‘Local’ we can
benefit from new technology to distribute our film, with use
of YouTube, Facebook/Twitter and other social
media, VIMEO and our own website.
