To many it is extremely difficult to grasp the sense of magnitude and tempo of what we are confronting. In the book The Singularity is Near, noted author Ray Kurzweil, explains that the Singularity is an unavoidable unless a catastrophe or an existential risk materializes. Say, a large meteorite, nuclear war (MAD), massive earthquakes. Dr. Kurzweil, notwithstanding, is quite optimistic that we will hopefully use technology to improve diplomacy, healthcare, environment, solving life-to-death-problems, challenging planet Earth NOW.
