  • AutoCAD 2012 delivers some new innovations to help you explore your ideas --- in fact, we’re packaging Autodesk Inventor Fusion on the disk with AutoCAD. You’ll see more about Fusion today. We are also delivering an exciting new Model Documentation capability, helping our customers import files from a variety of modeling applications -- including CATIA, Solidworks, Pro/E, NX, and Rhino – and quickly develop 2D documentation of those models. And as you know, we always focus on user productivity. In her demo, Heidi will show you several new capabilities in AutoCAD which will help speed the design and documentation process --- features as simple as some command line enhancements, and as complicated as new Associative Array capabilities. We think you’ll like them.
  • In-canvas from AutoCAD for Mac – which came from Maya
  • Edit polylines more easily with new and improved grip functionality. Use grips to add or remove vertices and to convert straight-line segments to arcs, and vice versa.Tab key to switch between incremental length and total lengthLengthen keeps the same angle- stretch does notCtrl switches between Lengthen and StretchElliptical arcs too.
  • Introduced in 2008 – on labs in 2009Direct modeler (as is AutoCAD)
  • Join – AutoCAD figures out how to best join touching objectsNudge – Ctrl + arrow keysSelect now goes into window or crossing mode when you select an objectMove UCS icon – new gripsViewBackward & ViewForward commentsGroup command – no dialog box (like Array)Content ExplorerPickauto and pickdrag (selection tab – options)Per and tangent different during grip editingMultiple paths in Options for stb, ctb, pc3, pmpNo more screen menu!Snap no longer causes the cursor to jump unless in drawing and editing command.Ncopy (copies objects from blocks and xrefs) now a real live command (not express tool)No more blipmode or DSViewer
  • Mtext now remembers the last used background mask color and offset (instead of defaulting to red and 1.5 units)Trace is gone
  • I hope you’ve all had a chance to check out AutoCAD WS. It’s been a tremendous success so far, with over 1 million downloads of the mobile app. Many customers are also accessing their designs via the web app. With the 2012 releases of the AutoCAD family of products, we’re including in-product access to AutoCAD WS. The team is iterating quickly, and has already had 3 updates since the initial launch. The #1 feature request we’ve gotten for WS is to make the mobile app available on Android. And while it hasn’t yet been publicly announced, I’m happy to tell you that it will be available in mid April.
  • AutoCAD for Mac is a full version of AutoCAD designed specifically as a native Mac application. Current users of AutoCAD will find the robust 3D free-form modeling tools and powerful drafting capabilities they expect from AutoCAD, as well as the familiar grips and snaps in the drawing area, and the command line which is similar to the experience on Windows platform. However users who prefer a Mac native environmentwill appreciate the redesigned “UI Chrome” and the many Apple-centric UI elements and design patterns.
  • AutoCAD for Mac software is purpose-built to take advantage of native Mac featuresPan and zoom with Multi-Touch gestures using a Magic Mouse or trackpad device. Find your designs quickly by using Cover Flow navigation to flip through graphical previews of your files. Commands, tools, and tool sets follow the intuitive interface methods common in Mac native applications, so instead of ribbon tabs and toolbars, you will see the menu bar common to Mac applications, and a number of palettes that organize frequently used tools in a logical manner.
  • You now have a choice of platform when using AutoCAD software.AutoCAD for Mac is AutoCAD at its heart, complete with the familiar tools and commands users count on to deliver the best 2D and 3D design. However there are some differences between AutoCAD and this first release of AutoCAD for Mac.Because it’s a native Mac application, in the AutoCAD for Mac user interface the commands, tools, and tool sets follow the methods familiar to Mac users and are based on a menu bar and palettes instead of ribbon tabs and toolbars. Windows specific technologies such as Visual Basic for Applications, OLE objects, and Windows Media Audio are not supported in AutoCAD for Mac. This first release of AutoCAD for Mac is best suited for small to medium sized businesses, where enterprise-wide implementation features are not as important. Network Licensing and CAD Manager configuration options are not available in this first release; layer filters, groups, and states are not present; Sheet Set Manager, DGN, PDF, and DWF underlay support are also not available for this first release.
  • As many of you already know, we introduced the Autodesk Design Suite in the fall. In fact, we introduced three versions of the suite, with varying levels of conceptual design and visualization tools. The Autodesk Design Suite sits at the core of a whole set of suites introduced by Autodesk, including Product Design Suite, Factory Design Suite, Building Design Suite, and more.ADS combines powerful, flexible AutoCAD2012 software with intuitive, proven sketching, conceptual design, presentation, and visualization solutions in a single, cost-effective package. There is a need in the market for powerful, simple visualization tools. We think ADS is the answer. We see it as the “new AutoCAD”.
  • AutoCAD power with enhanced design and visualization. Create high-impact presentations that help accelerate approvals and win business.CG Architect
  • Doyle Drive4 Cut and Cover TunnelsFewer CCOs (used on last slide)The ChallengeOne of PB’s current infrastructure projects, funded by the San Francisco County Transportation Authority, is the new US$1.045 billion Presidio Parkway in San Francisco. The roadway will replace Doyle Drive, a 1.5-mile road that runs from San Francisco’s Marina District through the Presidio to the southern access of the Golden Gate Bridge. Built in 1936, the existing Doyle Drive has reached its useful lifespan and is being replaced.I’m excited to talk to you about how BIM is making a real difference in Road and Highway projects. More specifically, how engineering and construction firms are using BIM as a strategic differentiator…. to compete for new work...and prove to “their” customers (transportation agencies and owners), that they can deliver better projects and address key issues like cost, schedule, quality and safety. And these transportation agencies are in turn, taking more notice. These owners and customers want to take advantage of “their” BIM opportunities….not just for design & construction…. but for the entire lifecycle…..and they want companies and people who can get BIM projects done for them.
