  • Intro To WebinarsAs online entrepreneurs and small business owners there are an infinite amount ofways to build your email list and generate sales on the web. The core of all yoursocial media effortsis to build your list…and webinars are one of the best ways tonot only establish yourself as an expert in your field but to build your email list.Webinars can successfully : 1. Generate sales leads. 2. Reach and influence decision makers. 3. Launch a new product or service, or market an existing one to a new market. 4. Position your brand in the marketplace ahead of the competition, regardless of your size. 5. Up-sell or re-sell existing clients.Step by step, this guide: 1. Will give you the basics for successful lead- generation with webinars. 2. Helps you avoid the biggest mistakes that can sabotage your Webinar marketing plan. 3. Details the core Webinar marketing strategies for your plan. 4. Gives you the best options for servicesBy following these proven guidelines, your small business or brand will also beable to increase leads, exposure and sale driven by Webinars.Let’s get started!
  • Bigger is generally better when it comes to Webinars and you want to get as manypeople registered for your webinar as possible. Essentially, it takes the same effortand cost to deliver a Webinar with 10 attendees as it does with 1000.So what do you need to do to drive trafficto your webinar?Create A Webinar MarketingPlanEspecially in markets where you are competing with a lot of differentindustryleaders, vendors, and Webinars, it will generally be a lot harder than you realize toget registrants for your Webinar.Creating and executing a winning marketing plan will give your event the chanceto create a successful webinar. Here are 5 tips to establishing a solid marketingplan prior to giving your first webinar.Step 1: Determine Your Webinar GoalsEstablish the purpose or objective of your webinar. What are your goals? What doyou want to accomplish by holding this webinar? Who will speak?Step 2: Define Your Target AudienceYour ultimate goal is to target potential buyers through your lead generationefforts, those who will be likely to respond to your lead generation campaign, andthen follow through and buy.
  • This means defining the topic or problem your prospects will respond to.The more potential buyers who see your offer, the more likely you are to increaseleads. And, if you can create a compelling headline for your offer, many more will .spend time investigating the benefits of responding to your offerStep 3: Craft A Compelling Headline and TopicCraft a compelling webinar headline and create a Webinar topic that drawsattention, piques curiosity and clearly outlines the problems and solutions that willbe covered. This will attract your target market like a magnet.Webinar titles and the summary of the perceived value of the event (whatattendees will learn from the content) will drive those who hear about yourWebinar to register.Be specific in your marketing and make sure you are creating content that isdesigned to meet the needs of the audience you want to target.Example:How to Increase Sales Now through Online Events with the UltimateWebinar Marketing Plan on February 17, 20XX at 7pm ET, 4pm PT.Step 4: Create Your ContentMake sure your content supports the value you are promoting. The worst thing amarketer can do is create lots of buzz and hype around their webinar event, then .under deliver during the webinar. Content is the main part of your Webinar offer It
  • encompasses the “what you will get” or “what you will learn” in your Webinar andthe perceived credibility of the speaker(s).An audience is asking themselves, “What is in it for me by attending thispresentation?”Therefore, when developing the content outline and speaker list for your Webinar, answer these two questions: 1. What benefits or information has this type of audience responded to in the past? 2. What are they likely to want to see now?Step 5: Map Out Your Webinar Outline 1. Introduction 2. Presentation 3. Case Studies , Testimonials or Results 4. Closing Remarks and Call to Action 5. Live Questions from the AudienceStep 6: Webinar PromotionGet your event promoted to a large list. While you may not have a large list yourself, think about ways to do a joint venture or partner with other marketers that havelarger lists or responsive lists - i.e. lists that buy.Make it easy for people to register for your event. Consider not only the registrationform, but the time of your event. If your target audience is working during the dayit may not be best to schedule a webinar at 2pm in the afternoon. You also want to
  • send a sequence of reminders to increase attendance. Include an email to your list7 days before the Webinar and a reminder 1 day and 30 minutes before.Successful Webinar marketing plans use three common sources forregistrants:1. Your own in-house email list.2. An opt-in email, outside speaker, or a co-sponsor list.3. A third-party rented list or external ads.Five vital questions to ask when developing your list or media strategy are: 1. What internal email lists are available to promote this Webinar? 2. What co-sponsor or outside speaker lists or media can be considered? 3. Where are similar Webinars or events being successfully promoted? 4. What media or lists have been responsive to your company’s marketing offersin the past? 5. When evaluating your list or media: What percentage of the list/media can be considered the target audience for this Webinar? What Webinars and promotions have worked best to this list?Step 7: Post MarketingDo not neglect the follow up. Many times the sale comes after the webinar. Have afollow-up campaign set up that provides a limited time replay or extended offer24hours after the live webinar has been given.
  • The Webinar InvitationGetting your message out through your Webinar invitation requires writingpromotional copy that highlights the title, timing, speaker or speakers, andprimary benefits of attending your presentation. A good invitation also calls yourprospect to action with some urgency. When marketing and selling something intangible such as Webinar content, it isespecially important to paint a vivid picture of the benefits of attending. The primary or “big benefit” of the Webinar is often summarized in the title of theWebinar. Secondary elements could be what attendees will learn, what questionswill they be able to ask and get answered, what will they see or experience duringthe Webinar, etc.Anatomy of a High Converting Webinar InviteThe HeadlineThe primary benefit of the Webinar could also be the subject line used for the emailinvitation.Remember that the subject line of the email is critical because it is your ad. If youcan’t get people to read your headline, there is no way to get them interested inyour webinar. Create a hypnotic headline that states the benefit and triggerscuriosity.Marketing Copy – Building Up InterestThe primary purpose of the Webinar invitation is to “sell” the Webinar, and anyinformation included should support this goal:
  • You want to essentially educate the reader on the benefits of the Webinar. You firstget their attention with a hypnotic headline. Next, create interest with the initialtext of your email. This could be questions, a story or example, or a naggingproblem your target audience faces.Summarize the benefits attendees of your Webinar will get in 3 to 7 phrases, sentences, or bullet points .Now that your invitation has their attention and builds up interest and desire, takethem to the next step. The Webinar Offer and Call to ActionThe description of the Webinar offerincludes the title, timing, speaker or speakers, and any bonuses or extras given as a part of registering or attending the Webinar. The offeralso includes whether the Webinar is free or has a cost.Bonuses can include writings such as a free report, checklist or book, a freeproduct, small giveaway, or a small amount of consulting time.A good invitation also calls your prospect to action with some urgency. Some common strategies are to: limit the number of virtual seats available toensure personal interaction, articulate the downside of missing out, state that theWebinar is only being offered once this year, or mention that this invitation is a “lastchance.”Call your prospects to action (urgently) by having them click on a direct link to theregistration page, also known as the Web registration form.
  • Getting the Webinar invitation right can be as simple as constructing a winningheadline/title, building up desire for the event through benefits, and articulatingyour offerand call to action in a way that moves people to register for the Webinar. To guarantee your webinar has a high attendance, use the power of the“irresistible offer”for the people who attend and stay until the end of the webinar. When you open up the webinar let them know you have a special gift for them butdo not give up the goods right away! Need some ideas for your irresistible offer? Here are a few you can give away: Video course, eBook, Free report or Audiodownload.During the webinar give away a guide, checklist, outline, or worksheet so yourattendees can follow along and take notes as the webinar progresses.Absolutely overwhelm your webinar guests by sending them more goodies andresources as a “thanks for attending” gift. Let them know just how much youappreciate them and encourage them to share the webinar replay or recordingwith friends by sending them to the opt in page.Sample Webinar InvitationHere’s a sample Webinar invite along with a description of the various sectionscommonly found in invitations.A Sample Webinar Ad in an Email NewsletterBuilding Your Email List With Webinars: The Ultimate Email List Building Plan – Free Webinar<<Insert Link to Registration Form>>A Sample Webinar Invitation

  • Ways To Promote Your WebinarCreate Buzz Using Social MediaAs small business owners, network and internet marketers, Social media is theperfect platform to promote your webinar. Create a video, blog post, facebook ad,custom Facebook tab that promotes your webinar content. Share it throughoutthe social media communities to create some buzz around your webinars and giveyour friends and followers a taste of the amazing value you have in store for them.Promoting links to your webinar event and recording in newsletters, socialnetworking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Google +, and on your own Web site,as well as those of your speaker and partner can increase your attendancedramatically. So don’t neglect these simple tactics. When creating buzz for your webinar drive interested trafficto a simple opt in pagepromoting your webinar with a lead capture page. You can also promote yourwebinar by including a lead capture form embedded at the end of your posts.Once the webinar has started, ask the attendees to tweet about the awesomenuggets they are learning by using a special hash tag # you have reserved for yourwebinar (like #fbwebinar) or ask them to update their Facebook status to createmore social media buzz.Create a simple script that encourages your readers to “tell a friend” about yourwebinar. If they are interested in the webinar topic, there is a great chance theyhave a friend or colleague that would be interested too! Incentivize them forspreading the word by giving away a free gift!
  • Email InvitationsThe most common way of inviting prospects to a Webinar is through your emaillist. Make sure to link to a dedicated registration form. For many small businessesthis is the primary way of drawing an audience to their Webinars. Also consider emails from industry leaders in your niche. Partner with aentrepreneur or business related to yours to expand your reach. This is a way toadd to your own list as well.Do you know any third-party organizations or affiliatesthat wouldn’t mindpromoting your webinar to their list on your behalf? A great offerto an endorsedlist can be one of your most successful marketing campaigns.Opt ins and Landing PagesA great way to convert traffic on your blog or site is to include an opt in box, banner ad or link to a landing page. Include an opt in form in your sidebar or at thebottom of each blog post. Use a strong call to action to drive prospects to a webpage where leads can register for your webinar. Make sure to have a hypnoticheadline, summary features and benefits, and an easy way to register.Banner ads can be placed on the highest traffic pages on your site and directprospects to your web page which sells the Webinar. You can also considerreaching new target prospects through banner ads on third party sites and drivethem to your web page, which aggressively sells your Webinar and asks for aregistration.Once you find the most successful ways of driving traffic & leads to your webinarsand email lists REPEAT what works.
