Christmas in Andalucía

We’re going to talk about Christmas in Andalucía. These celebrations are very important for Christian people because they celebrate that Jesus was born in Belén.

On the night of 24th of December, Andalusian people organize a dinner at home with family. They do a big dinner where they eat stuffed chicken, turkey, fish, ham, cheese …

On 25th of December the family meets at home to have a lunch. They eat the leftovers from the previous day, and they play “the invisible friend.” Then they eat nougat shortcake dough, chocolates …

On the 31st we make a dinner to end the year and bring in the new year. We eat the same food as on 24th of December, and we leave the year eating twelve grapes for each bell ring.

On the 5th of January we go to a parade and we take sweets. Each of the family members receives a present. Children believe that the magic kings exist and bring them presents.
