THE PROCESS
1) Go to Wikipedia.org and do a search for “List of Dog Breeds.”
Title 2) Once you access the list, scroll through all of them (there are a lot!) and
get a general overview of the different types of dogs.
Introduction 3) After familiarizing yourself with the page, go back through and choose
Task 10-15 dogs that you would like to research further.
4) Make a list of the dogs, then research each dog individually.
Process 5) For your research, create a Table chart to make comparing the different
dog breeds easier.
Evaluation 6) In your table, include the following criteria:
• Average Weight (male & female)
Conclusion • Average Height (male & female)
• Behavior/ Personality
• Compatibility with humans & other animals
• Trainability
• Health, grooming, & life span
• Colors of coat
1) Use the following websites for your research:
• Wikipedia.org
• http://animal.discovery.com/breed-selector/dog-breeds.html
• http://www.akc.org/breeds/index.cfm
1) After you have researched each dog you chose, use the Table you made
and compare the dogs. Mentally weight the pros and cons of each dog
as a potential pet.
2) Make a decision and chose your favorite dog out of the 10-15 you
researched.
3) Finally, type up a summary (2-3 paragraphs) on why you chose the dog
you did. Include the information found in your Table (under the chosen
breed), list the resources you used, and your final reasoning as to why
you chose the specific breed of dog and what why it appealed to you.
Credits You will then present your dog choice and summary to the class.
