    • First automobile industry in India : Mahindra and Mahindra was founded in 1945 in Ludhiana as Mahindra & Mohammed by brothers K.C. Mahindra and J.C. Mahindra and Malik Ghulam Mohammed , and began assembly of Jeep CJ 3-a utility vehicle After India gained independence and Pakistan was formed, Mohammed emigrated to Pakistan. The company changed its name to Mahindra & Mahindra in 1948. Mahindra & Mahindra, branded on its products usually as Mahindra, produces SUVs, saloon cars, pickups, commercial vehicles, and two wheeled motorcycles. It owns assembly plants in Mainland China and the United Kingdom , and has three assembly plants in the United States. Mahindra maintains buisness relations with foreign companies like Renault , France and Navistar International, USA. Mahindra produces a wide range of vehicles including MUVs, LCVs and three wheelers. It manufactures over 20 models of cars including larger, arguably more modernized multi-utility vehicles like the Scorpio and the Bolero. It formerly had a joint venture with Ford called Ford India Private Limited to build passenger cars.

    • Bajaj Auto Limited is an Indianmotorized vehicle-producingcompany. Bajaj Auto is a part ofBajaj Group. It was founded byJamnalal Bajaj at Rajasthan in the1930s . It is based in Pune, Mumbai, with plants in Chakan(Pune), Waluj (near Aurangabad) and Pantnagar in Uttaranchal. The oldest plant at Akurdi (Pune) now houses the R&D centre Ahead. Bajaj Auto makes and exports automobiles, scooters, motorcycles and autoBajaj Auto is the worlds rickshaws.third-largest manufacturer ofmotorcycles and the second-largest in India. The company has changed its image from a scooter manufacturer to a two-wheeler manufacturer. Its product range encompasses scooterettes, scooters and motorcycles. Its growth has come in the last four years after successful introduction of models in the motorcycle segment.

It was the first company in India to mass-produce and sell more than a million cars. It is largely credited for having brought in an automobile revolution to India. It is the market leader in India, and on 17 September 2007, Maruti Udyog Limited was renamed as Maruti Suzuki India Limited. The companys headquarters are on Nelson Mandela Rd, New Delhi.
