If you are an author, you are probably familiar with the major role publicity can play when it comes to turning a book into a commercial success. Unlike traditional authors who are receiving help from their agents when it comes to promotion, self-published authors have to fight this struggle on their own.

  • I sent out 11 books in my Giveaway. I promoted a free Kindle weekend with over 1000 downloads. I received ONE review. Goodreads likes to say you can count on 60% of your readers reviewing your book. That was certainly not the case with me. Another author told me that when people get things for free, they don't respect it. Maybe that is what happened, but I can tell you it was a HUGE waste of money for me, and I will never give away my hard work for free again. If you are on the fence about a Giveaway, think very hard about handing over a free product with no return. Think how hard you worked on your book. If you think you will get reviews and therefore increase your sales, you may be wrong. Nothing may happen. Just a warning. I wish someone had warned me before I gave away my work for free.
