SEO (part 1) by Phil Poole

 1. 1. SEO
Get customers by using the Internet
2. 2. What’s this all about?
So, you have a website! Ok, now how is it going to make you
MONEY?
3. 3. Your website needs to get noticed!
Having a website is like opening a store in a big city on a back-alley in a deserted neighborhood while keeping the lights out!
Your website investment can
return very little and
may even be a
drain on your limited resources!
4. 4. A new website is like a new business!
It has to be known and accessible by the customer.
It has to make it easy for the customer to do business.
It has to have staff.
It has to be maintained.
And, of course, it has to have something to sell that a customer will want to buy.
5. 5. You can get your customer to find YOU
The most successful means of getting new customers to your website is by the use of Search Engines. Using a Search Engine Website is a simple method for your customer to get to know who you are and what you do.
To find what they are looking for, People use Search Engines like:
6. 6. For Example:
You own a Flooring company and a potential customer needs to find some Hardwood floors.
The modern day customer will go to a Search Engine to find someone who can help him. They will type in a certain Keyword and then he will receive results.
7. 7. The results
8. 8. The Importance of First Page Results
71% of all search engine users click on only the Top 5 listings.
87% of all search engine users never go beyond the FIRST page!
Source: http://www.olympicseo.com/
9. 9. But who is your customer?
Your potential customer is already looking for you!
Your potential customer base is growing.
Your potential customer is using the Internet daily.
Your potential customer wants to know who you are before they do any business with you.
Your customer is available and looking for you but you also need to be available to them.
10. 10. People/Internet Statistics
First lets look at some statistics:
In 2000, there are 6.1 Billion People in the world.
As of December 2000, there were 360 Million People Using the Internet. (5% of the world used the Internet)
In 2009, there were 6.7 Billion People in the World.
As of December 2009 1.8 Billion People using the Internet. 12. 12. So….
If 882,000,000 (882 Million) people are using Google Daily.
Your English language website sells to the #1 Second language in the world.
Your service or product can be sold globally.
You probably are losing business to your competitors right now. You need to use SEO!
13. 13. What is SEO?
SEO is Search Engine Optimization.
SEO promotes your business (through your website) on the Internet. It involves optimizing your website to be Search Engine Friendly and implementing the online marketing right tactics to direct traffic to your website.
SEO provides the prospective customer with knowledge and accessibility.
14. 14. What do I need?
You need:
A website that will serve your customers.
Patience to let SEO succeed for you.
Motivation to work the system.
Well conceived and well managed SEO gets your website on the FIRST PAGES of search engines – Google-Yahoo-MSN-etc., when a prospective customer is searching the web for what your web site has to sell.
15. 15. Don’t give up!
SEO will not show immediate results, so don’t get discouraged.
In some cases, it may take 6 months to 2 years to start having results
Remember, this is a race that never ends. Your competitors are using similar SEO tactics on the same keywords you want.
16. 16. Conclusion
SEO is the most important (and most neglected) part of an online presence!
“Doing SEO, I cannot guarantee you will be on the first page of every Search Engine search but if you don’t do any SEO, I can guarantee you will be on the last”
