This document discusses fats and provides information on a student experiment testing the fat content of different foods. It begins by defining fats and explaining their importance in the body and diet. It then outlines the purpose, materials, and procedures for an experiment comparing the fat content of nachos, chocolate date pastries, and biscuits. The results showed the pastries were the most fatty and oily, forming the thickest emulsion, while the biscuits were the least fatty and healthiest option. The nachos were moderately fatty. In summary, the document discusses fats and presents the results of a student experiment testing the relative fat content of various foods.

1. Fat Content in Your
Food

2. What are fats?
They are a combination of saturated and unsaturated
fatty acids.
3. Are they part of living cells?
Fat is an exception, having cells in contact with each
other; although if it’s large, nonliving, intracellular lipid
droplets, fat is in nonliving material more than living
material.
4. Why are they important?
Fats are often known to be unhealthy, but they are
essential to our bodies. Fatty acids are important to
brain development and also help with blood clotting
and managing inflammation. Fats help our skin and
hair to be healthy and also help the body absorb
certain vitamins and move them through the blood.
5. What are the implications of
having more fats in diet?
Saturated fats and trans fats are known as the “bad
fats” because they increase your risk of disease and
elevate cholesterol.

6. Purpose Of The Experiment
The purpose of this experiment is to notice out of which
sample of food is the fattest and leaves oil stains. Also
to test with test tubes and use ethanol in each sample.
8. Test 1 Rubbing test
Foods we choose
Nachos (Afnan’s Choice)
Tiny Chocolate date pastry ( Sahar’s Choice)
Tiny Biscuits (Amnah’s Choice)

10. Results and Observations
Food type Observation Interpretation
Nachos Big greasy spots and spreaded The nachos are greasy but
not very fatty.
Tiny Chocolate A HUGE very greasy spot on the The pastry is very greasy
Date pastry paper bag AND the tissue. and fatty because it has so
much chocolate on it.
Tiny biscuit Spreaded tiny grease spots Not very oily and very
small. This is the least
fattening.

Mortar and Pestle
Ethanol
Distilled water
Test tubes
18. Final results
The pastry was the most fattening it was very thick and
oily and didn’t really go the end of the cup.
The nachos was sort of oily but not very fatty.
The biscuits was not fatty or that oily which is the
healthiest of all.
