  1. 1. Bollywood and Social Media This is one of the hit pairs for the past few years. Social media and Bollywood walk hand in hand with the each other as both compliment each other largely. Off late most of the bollywood stars have created their social media entities on websites like Facebook and twitter to stay updated and keep in touch with their fans and other influential people. It acts as a two way process, fans get constant updates on their beloved stars and in return these stars can derive feedbacks and other valuable insights from the social media.

Many of the leaders of the bollywood film fraternity are today a part of the social media domain and maintain their accounts on their own rather than PR and marketing professionals handling them. Actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor connect with the people immensely through these social networking websites. 1. Film promotions- Using social media to its full potential, bollywood stars have exploited this platform to its maximum. The most important usage of social media for bollywood stars is blatant promotion of their upcoming movies and TV shows. It is common that people follow these stars easily whether on twitter or facebook. Taking advantage of this fact many stars like Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, Ajay Devgan, Emraan Hashmi use the domain to advertise their films. All of them have twitter accounts which are most active prior to the release of their next film. As such it is evident that stars are making the most out of this medium and are gaining huge profits as well.

Many bollywood stars like Poonam Pandey, Sunny Leone have used this platform to promote their image in the society and to build a reputation such that they are liked by all the viewers of the Indian film.

Of course it goes without saying that they have also promoted their movies and have also tried to create a definite image of themselves, these actors are also concerned with what is going on in the world. If you visit the twitter and facebook profiles of the above mentioned stars you will realise how different their accounts are from the others. There are regular tweets and posts of these stars that pertain to the world in general as well. 4. Monitoring- With the recent advent of technology, social media monitoring has taken a serious raise and more people are using this particular feature. The bollywood stars are also not far behind. From the time bollywood and social media have come together there has been a rapid increase in the profits garnered and more people are aware about films even of they are not big banner and big budget movies.
