  2. 2. INTRO<br />Between April 1992 and November 1995, Serbia set out to “ethnically cleanse” Bosnian territory by systematically<br />removing all Bosnian Muslims. Serbia, together with ethnic Bosnian Serbs, attacked Bosnian Muslims with former<br />Yugoslavian military equipment and surrounded Sarajevo, the capital city.<br />

Start of War<br />Death of Josip Broz Tito, the leader of Yugoslavia in 1980<br />Yugoslavia started to break off in 1991,with Slovenia and Croatia the first to break off<br />Referendum, In February 1992, Bosnia demanded independence from Yugoslavia(99.4% for independence)<br />A groom's father got killed at a Serb wedding procession on the first day of the referendum.<br />
  7. 7. 11 July 1995<br />Srebrenica was called as a safe place by UN<br />April 18,1993 the first set of the Serb army came.<br />Muslims forced out. The men and boys would be taken to be killed!<br />On July More than 8,000<br /> Bosnian Muslims both men <br />and boys died that July 1995<br />

Who Stopped the Genocide? <br />NATO initiated air strikes against Bosnian Serbs to stop the attacks against Bosnian Muslims<br />DAYTON AGREEMENT on the November 21 1995<br />Deal  by US President Clinton and his Secretary of the State Christopher between the Presidents of Bosnia<br /><ul><li>Serbs get 49% of the land(mostly mountains),but lose Sarajevo

Siege Ends!</li></li></ul><li>After War<br />The International Criminal Tribunal for Yugoslavia (ICTY) at The Hague brought Serbian President Milosevic and more than 160 Serbs to trial for their crimes against humanity and the murder of more than 200,000<br />In 21 July 2008, the leader of the Bosnian Serbs, RadovanKaradzic, was arrested and now will face criminal charges for his actions.<br />
  10. 10. CONCLUSION<br />National Culture that does not place a high value on human life!<br />For Genocide to happen there must be certain preconditions<br />There has been historical events between Serbs and Muslims Bosnia<br />People were killed because of their religion and lands<br />
