How Do You Create a Fan Page for Your Business?

Click the ‘+Create Page’ button on the ‘Ads and Pages’ screen.
This screen is your control panel for all the pages you admin.

1. Select the ‘Local Business’ option & the category from the drop down menu.
2. Name your Fan Page.
NOTE: You CANNOT change the Name or Category once created!
3. Check the box to confirm you’re an official representative of the business.
4. Click ‘Create Official Page’ once you’ve checked everything for typos!

Do they know how to manage their Privacy Settings to protect themselves?

First Things First, Let’s Organize all Your ‘Friends’.
2. Click the ‘+Create a List’ button on the Friends screen.
1. Select the ‘Friends’ category below your profile photo

3. In the popup window, Name your List and click on the Friends you want to add to it.
4. Select ‘Create List’ when you’re finished.

Now, Onto Privacy Settings…

Did you see this ‘Improved Privacy Controls’ notice Facebook last time you logged in?

The ‘Improved Privacy Controls’ notice brings you to this screen & you can always change your setting in the ‘Account’ dropdown.

We’ll start with the ‘Sharing on Facebook’ Setting (#1 in this example)

Choose one of Facebook’s presets or Customize your settings.

Don’t forget to check your Photo Albums Privacy Settings.

You edit the privacy setting on each Photo Album individually;
‘Everyone’‘Friends of Friends’‘Only Friends’ or ‘Customize’.

You can customize your privacy settings wherever you see this little padlock icon.

Your Profile Picture, Name, Gender & Networks are always open to ‘Everyone’
You can PREVIEW your profile as other people see it!

Notice There are No Status Updates, or a Tabs for my Wall or Photos
Keep Your Profile Picture Something You Don’t Mind Everyone Seeing

Sharing My Status Updates & some of my Wall & there are Info. & Photo Tabs
Sharing MY Posts, but NOT Posts by my Friends
Not showing my birth year or hometown.

Here I chose NOT to show my contact info such as Email, Phone, Relationship Status, etc.

Just enter the person’s name in this box on the Preview Screen.

But There are Still More Privacy Settings to Customize…

You can completely disable this feature by un-checking this box.

You can ‘See a Preview’ of what information is searchable on the web by clicking here.
You can completely disable this feature by un-checking this box.

If you’re unhappy with what’s being show, you click here to disable searches.
Almost Finished…

Click ‘See More Results’ to refine your search.

Type in a Location and click the ‘Refine Search’ button.
Make sure you select ‘People’ from the sidebar.

Click this ‘Report/ Block Person’ link at the very bottom of their profile.

Check the box next to ‘Block this Person’ and click the ‘Submit’ button.

You can change your settings at any time by selecting ‘Privacy Settings’ from the ‘Account’ dropdown menu.

Simply click the ‘Suggest to Friends’ link underneath the Fan Page Profile pic. & select your Friends in the popup window.
