  • 8. Hollyoaks• In hollyoaks there are two homosexual girls whostart a relationship.• However both of these girls go against thestereotype of heterosexual females becauseinstead of being butch they are both extremelyfeminine and girly.• For example in the clip I was looking at, Tilly waswearing a short blue dress with a pink ribbon inher hear and you wouldn’t normally associatethis with heterosexual females.• Therefore Hollyoaks challenges hegemony
  • 9. Eastenders• Eastenders also includes a heterosexual couple.• Christian shows the stereotype of gay menbecause he cares about his appearance andworks out. As well as this, he has a high pitchedvoice that does not sound masculine.• He also has typical behaviour of a heterosexual, for example he makes a dramatic scene oversomething so simple.
  • 10. Eastenders• This shows the contrast between straight andgay characters, because in Eastenders theheterosexual characters are shown as tough andtrouble makers.• For Example, Phil is always getting into trouble, and his look is a lot of rough for example hisshaven head, and the shirts and jeans he wearsmakes him appear tough.• As well as this, the jobs Christian and Phil doshow their sexuality as Christian works in a gymagain showing he cares about appearancewhere as Phil owns a car garage, so he doesn’tmind cracking down into a ‘mans’ job.
