    Notes on slide 1

Discuss socializing vs networking somewhere in presentation.

The reason my network is underdeveloped is because I only decided I was interested in HR last year. - Time – I was busy taking classes to finish my degree. – - Money – I did not have $ attend events or join organizations that would help with my networking. - Opportunity – didn’t have adequate transportation or knowledge of events.

This how-to guide can be used by anyone that needs to develop their professional network for whatever reason

When it comes to job searching, the truth is, about 75 percent of people find their next position through their network. http://ow.ly/g2Pl Many jobs are not posted/advertised because employers hire internally or go through their employee referral program first before they look externally. This method is cheaper for them but makes it harder on job hunters. Building your network is not only about finding jobs, it is about learning from others in your field and keeping current in it.

Increased number of LinkedIn contacts, Facebook friends, tweeple, business cards, etc. Increased number of job leads and other useful career information.

    - Functional - Me - Technical – Internet, Word-of-Mouth

The core team that will be working on this problem weekly consists of myself…
