BETA Mission Statement & Aims <ul><li>The Black Entertainment and Theatrical Association strives to educate our community about African Americans in the world of entertainment through literary readings, performances, filmmaking, etc. The purpose of B.E.T.A. is to bring together artists from all realms of entertainment including but not limited to Theater, Film/Television, Music Industry, Broadcasting/Communications, and for the purpose of performing and presenting productions to the campus and the surrounding community. B.E.T.A. creates an environment to help cultivate and encourage performers, writers/playwrights, composers, choreographers, cinematographers, etc. to come together and collaborate with our shared passions for entertainment. </li></ul>

  4. 4. Evening of Soul <ul><li>A fundraiser in conjunction with the CBCSA </li></ul><ul><li>TO be held during Black Family Weekend </li></ul><ul><li>A Dinner of Theatre: One Act Plays, Scenes, Monologues, etc. </li></ul>
  5. 5. BETA Production <ul><li>Production has not yet been decided and will be open for discussion amongst the members. </li></ul><ul><li>Will take place Spring Semester 2010 as an ISP. </li></ul><ul><li>There will be one BETA Production per year </li></ul>
  6. 6. Guest Speaker Forums <ul><li>We will have African Americans in the Entertainment Industry </li></ul><ul><li>I.E. Actors, Casting Directors, Directors, Producers, Agents, etc., Representatives from SAG and USC Alumni. </li></ul><ul><li>A minimum of twice a semester </li></ul><ul><li>First Forum will be held on Wednesday September 30 th @ 7pm in replace of that week’s BETA meeting. Guest Speaker is awaiting confirmation and will be announced soon! </li></ul>

Literary Society <ul><li>Read and Study plays written by African American playwrights. </li></ul><ul><li>Hold live Stage/Cold Readings of these plays written by the African American Playwrights. </li></ul><ul><li>Educate ourselves as the body of B.E.T.A and the USC community of these many African American playwrights that are often overlooked. </li></ul><ul><li>We will also thoroughly strive to get the African American Theatre class re-instituted and available. </li></ul>
  8. 8. Mixers <ul><li>SOT Faculty/Staff </li></ul><ul><li>Black Alumni Association (BAA) </li></ul><ul><li>African American Cinema Society (AACS) </li></ul><ul><li>Establish relationships for BETA/AACS/Alumni Collaboration </li></ul>

Meetings <ul><li>Today is the FIRST!!!!  </li></ul><ul><li>Bi-Weekly (Every other Wednesday at 7pm) </li></ul><ul><li>E-Board meets on the off week </li></ul><ul><li>E-Board Elections will be held at 2 nd General Meeting. </li></ul><ul><li>E-Board Positions available: </li></ul><ul><li>Historian, Director of Publicity, Financial Director, BSA Rep. </li></ul>
