  • 2. What is a cell?
    A cell is the basic unit of all living things
    Cells perform a variety of functions and have many components (parts) called organelles
  • 3. Why do we study cells?
    To understand how animals and plants (and humans!) get energy:
    Cells take energy stored in food and change it into forms to be used for all daily activities
    There are many types of cells, and we will focus on ANIMAL and PLANT cells
