6. 6. ....Summary & Benefits....

In my classroom I will divide the students up into groups to learn different songs and perform them at the end of the week. I will make sure that at least one person in every group knows the song so they can the "responsible and be the leader" for that group and teach it to the rest of the students. Then communication would come into play. Throughout the week the students will communicate with each other about the song they are working on in order to have it ready to perform by the end of the week.

 7. 7. ....Summary & Benefits....

Each week there would be a different project. It will deal with music somehow. This particular week we are focusing on singing. On Monday the students will be divided up into groups and I will give them a song to learn. During the week I will go around making sure that the students are on track and help them out some if the need it. On Thursday the students will do a final run through for me, then on Friday the students will perform for the whole classroom. I am hoping that this will cure them of stage fright later on in life.

 8. 8. !Concert!

Since December is a holiday-filled month, we will be learning holiday songs all this month and will perform a concert on December 22nd for all the parents at the auditorium at 7 P.M. (students should be at the stage by 6:30)

 9. 9. `ROLES’

TEACHER -as the teacher I am there to guide the children in their learning. I am a facilitator and a resource for the children.

STUDENT -the students will be more in charge of the classroom than in the past. They will use project based learning to guide themselves and other classmates as they learn objectives.

Please note that I am still the teacher and in charge but this gives the students an opportunity to learn in a different classroom set up that is typically more effective than the traditional classroom.

 10. 10. `YOUR ROLE’

PARENTS -I need you to bring the classroom home. Ask them to sing the songs they have learn and if you know the song as well, sing it together. Also if your child is absent one day I will email you the assignment for the day and ask that you go over the materials in the email with them.

 11. 11. :Objectives and Standards:

Objectives : The students will learn a variety of songs and understand their meanings. Near patriotic days we will learn patriotic songs, and when holidays come along throughout the year we will learn songs that correspond to the various holidays.

Standards : (music) K.17-Consider music in relation to history and culture.

 12. 12. PBL???????

PROJECT BASED LEARNING- is a more modern way to teach. This technique gets students up out of their desks and out of the classroom settings and the students get to learn outside of the traditional classroom. PBL is a hands on way of teaching and gets the students more involved than the typical lecture style of teaching does. With PBL students are more likely to actually learn information instead of just memorizing it. I will use this in my classroom through our learning of songs. They will be more responsible for their work but they will learn the songs by helping each other and getting up out of their seats. It will motivate them to do better than the usual classroom setting.
