2. Who was Saint George?
Saint George is the Patron Saint of England,
who according to legend slayed a dragon.
He is also the patron saint of Aragon Catalonia,
Ethiopia, Georgia, Greece,Lithuania, Palestine,
Portugal, Russia and cities such as Genoa and
Moscow.
Most legends say that he was not actually
English, he was born in Cappadocia, Turkey
and was a Roman soldier.

that say George was
from Coventry.
The colours of Saint
George are a white flag
and a red cross and are
used in lots of the
countries he is patron
saint of.
4. Saint George And The Dragon
The legend says:
George was travelling in Libya and found a
village that was being terrorised by a dragon
The dragon demanded the sacrifice of a
beautiful maiden and all the young girls had
been killed
The only one that
remained was the
princess who was
offered to the dragon.

George heard about the
princess and was
determined to save her.
He travelled with his horse to the valley where the
dragon lived.
The dragon rushed from its cave and George hit
the dragon with his spear but it hit the dragons
scales and shattered into a thousand pieces.
6. George then fell off his horse and landed
underneath an enchanted orange tree which
protected him from the dragons poison.
He then struck the dragon with his sword, but
the dragon poured poison on him and his
armour split in two.
George rushed at the
dragon striking it
under its wings where
there were no scales
and killing it.

Saint Georges day is the 23rd of
April every year but most people
in England don’t celebrate.
