These are just some of the many applications you can use in the ESL classroom. The ipad is a new revolution, that is perfect for teachers. It’s light weight is perfect for carrying around, and you are the one that decides which application to use. Engineers say “the ipad is much more better than a laptop or a desktop”.
Pros You can connect it to a smart board and give a class. You can take it back home and prepare a new class. No worrying about pen drives and viruses. Lightweight. You have over a thousand options of applications you can use, which are very useful for teaching from pre K all the way to high school.
Cons No webcam No Adobe Flash support Can’t multitask No USB port No HDMI output
Personal opinion I think the iPad is great even though it has a couple of cons, we have to remember this is not a laptop or a computer. It’s a new technology designed to make things easier. In the education area I think it is pretty good as well, you can do many things with it, from reading books to giving a phonetics class. I also think that it is good because it is cheaper than a laptop or a desktop. Overall I think it is great!
