    • “ SlideShare is the world’s largest community for sharing presentations.”
    • It’s a great place to share your presentation with others and meet new people.

    • Based in San Francisco, CA & New Delhi, India
    • Rashmi Sinha (CEO) controls the design of the site and the community.
    • Jonathan Boutelle (Head Geek) came up with the initial idea to create SlideShare and wrote the first version of the website.
    • Amit Ranjan is the head of the team that built SlideShare.

    • Share your slideshows either publicly or privately
      • You can share privately many different ways
    • Put audio with your slides
      • Making a SlideCast: SlideShare + Podcast = SlideCast
    • Market an event
    • Join groups with other SlideShare members that have the same interests
    • Download the original PowerPoint/PDF file

    • You can make friends or make professional contacts
    • You can participate and vote in contests
    • You can share your presentation on social networks, blogs, and bookmarking sites
    • There is also a SlideShare application on Facebook
    • You can now upload Word documents too.

    • SlideShare can have many uses in the class.
    • You can have the students all make their own SlideShare account because it’s free.
    • When you assign presentations to the class, you can have each student upload their PowerPoint presentation to their own SlideShare.
    • They can also share it with the rest of the class by sending the link in an e-mail.
    • This is a great way for all the students to be able to review everyone’s presentation.. Especially if the information covered is going to be on a test or quiz.

    • As the teacher, you can upload any presentations that you are going to give to SlideShare so that the students can print it out before class.
    • This also lets them pay closer attention to what you’re teaching.
    • They can take extra notes rather than scrambling to write down everything on the screen.

    • You can upload all of your presentations onto your own account so that you don’t have to worry bringing your USB… and no worries is you forget it.
    • You’re presentations are easily accessible through the website.
