Haze is cloudiness caused by light scattering from particles or imperfect surfaces. It can be quantified for materials like liquids, glass, plastics, and metals. Transmission haze is measured by light transmitted through a sample, while reflection haze is measured by light reflected off opaque surfaces. Current HunterLab instruments measure haze similarly but not identically to ASTM standards due to instrument design differences. Measurements of several samples showed similar but not identical haze values between instrument models.
