  • 1. Analysis Of Stereo Hearts by Gym Class Heroes
  • 2. Introduction
    • We are going to be analysing the song Stereo Hearts by Gym Class Heroes. It is from the rap & pop genre and is a very well known song in its genre. Here is an example of the video if you wish to watch it before we start analysing it .
If the video does not work you can click on this link to take you to the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3E9Wjbq44E&ob=av2e
  • 3. Genre Setting is also used to allow the music video to be relevant to the rap-pop genre. The setting is urban and distinguishes the street life in the rap genre. Genre in this music video can be portrayed through the costume of the artists as they are quite urban and fashionable which is linked to Rap-Pop.
  • 4. Images related to lyrics
    • A general convention in music videos are to have images relevant to the lyrics.
This is seen many times in this music video such as ; - the word up is sung and then an image of one of the artists pointing upwards is shown. - when he word heart is mentioned the main artist makes a heart sign with his hands.
  • 5. Presentation of Artist/Band
    • In this music video there are a mix shots of artists by themselves and artist with their band.
There is one artist who is in the band and is also shown by himself. Whereas the other artist is only shown by himself and not with the band at all. This distinguishes the two singers and the audience can tell that the one of the main singers are in a band. Instruments are used in the music band through the use of shadows but yet this clearly still shows that he is part of a band.
  • 6. Narrative There are many shots which have shadows in it and the shadows are edited in to be an amazing special effect throughout the video. There is no main narrative to this music video but I do believe that we are tracking the journey of the main artist and then slowly look at other parts of day.
