  • Trip to Switzerland in summerSwitzerland, Lake Geneva Aug 22, 2012
  • Last summer I had travel with my wife to Switzerland foreighteen days as holiday. The plan was to had the trip on four different country in theEurope, but in the middle trip we skep one which is Germany. On Aug 21, 2012 night we board by Etihad airline from AbuDhabi International airport to Geneva. The Swiss Alps cover over half of Switzerland, and themountains that pertain to this range can reach heights ofaround 15,000 feet above sea level. The Alps are responsiblefor causing some interesting climatic variations throughoutthe country, often making it hard to predict the weather.
  • When traveling through the Alps on a Switzerlandvacation, bringing warm clothes is recommended. Even duringthe summer months, the temperatures can get relatively coolfrom time to time. Switzerlands lower areas, which can befound in the north, tend to have warmertemperatures, especially in the summer. In the southernreaches of the country, which is where you will findLugano, the temperatures tend to remain fairly mildthroughout the year. Subtropical vegetation grows here, and itis because of this weather that Lugano has been referred to asthe "Monte Carlo of Switzerland."
  • When general sightseeing is the aim of a Switzerland vacation, summer isthe best time to visit, with June being especially ideal. Visitors cancomfortably tour the entire country in the summer months, as themountain passes are all open. Early fall can also be an ideal time to enjoya trip to Switzerland if general sightseeing is at the heart of things. Thewarmer months of the year are also ideal for various outdoor activities.Hiking is best enjoyed in the summer, for example, as is sailing. Many ofthe Swiss cities, such as Geneva and Lucerne, rest on the banks of sceniclakes, in which case swimming is a top warm weather pursuit as well.Once winter approaches, skiing and snowboarding take their rightfulplaces among the top things to do in Switzerland. Mountain resorts likeZermatt, Davos, and St. Moritz figure among the most attractive skiresorts in Europe, and as such, they are popular vacation destinationswhen the snow is falling.
  • In some of the Swiss mountain resorts, skiing can continueinto the spring and summer months, thanks to the altitude andthe heavy winter snowfall. The slopes in and around Zermatttypically stay open the longest, and a spring or summer ski tripto Switzerland doesnt have to be out of the question. Forsome, engaging in Switzerland travel in the low season will bemost attractive, thanks to the discounted rates at the countryshotels. Early November to mid-December is essentially the lowseason, and this is when hotel and flight rates are at their best. The spring and fall shoulder seasons also see reduced faresthat help to make off season Switzerland travel very attractive.
  • In addition to considering the weather, anyone who is trying tofigure out when to take a trip to Switzerland will also want tokeep the countrys annual events and festivals in mind. Like somany other countries around the world, Switzerland celebratesCarnival rather vigorously in February. Basel is one of the bestplaces to enjoy the Carnival celebrations in Switzerland, as isLucerne, though visitors can expect lively festivities in all of thecountries various cantons, cities, and villages. A number of otherfun events and festivals, many of which have their roots in localtraditions, are held throughout the country during the year.Visitors are encouraged to consider the events schedules fortheir destinations of choice.
  • The Switzerland seasons all have their advantages and visitorswho want to get the full experience might want to plan a returnvisit for another time of year. Skiing during the winter andreturning in the summer to hike the mountains and tour someof the countrys more attractive cities can be a good way to go.Switzerland is a land of many delights, and even when theoutdoor activities arent at their best, there will be plenty ofshopping to do, numerous restaurants to visit, and an array ofattractions to take in. A Switzerland vacation is easily filled withany number of fun activities.
