Early life <ul><li>Was born on January 1855. </li></ul><ul><li>Baptized by priest Charles O’Hea. </li></ul><ul><li>Saved another boy who was drowning. </li></ul><ul><li>Father died when eleven </li></ul><ul><li>Left school when father died </li></ul><ul><li>Mother went back to family when Red died </li></ul><ul><li>Moved to Glenrowan (known as Kelly country) </li></ul><ul><li>Grew up in poverty </li></ul><ul><li>Was in the most harshest conditions in winter </li></ul><ul><li>Slept on the ground in Victorian winter </li></ul>

Rise to notoriety <ul><li>Arrested at the age of fourteen for assault </li></ul><ul><li>Ah Fook claimed that Ned stole 10 shillings </li></ul><ul><li>Spent ten days in custody before dismissed </li></ul><ul><li>Police called him “Juvenile Bushranger” after that </li></ul><ul><li>Arrested the following year accused of being accomplice </li></ul><ul><li>Arrested again for assaulting a hawker </li></ul><ul><li>Three weeks later he was sent to jail with Alex Gunn for three years. </li></ul><ul><li>Wild Wright went in jail for eighteen months only. </li></ul><ul><li>Few weeks later Jim Kelly was given a five year sentence . </li></ul>

The Fitzpatrick incident <ul><li>Ned's mother now married again </li></ul><ul><li>She married a Californian man called George King </li></ul><ul><li>She had three children with him </li></ul><ul><li>George, Ned & Dan was involved in a cattle rustling operation </li></ul><ul><li>Alexander Fitzpatrick arrived at Benella suffering from wounds on his left wrist </li></ul><ul><li>He claimed that Dan, Ned, Ellen and their friends Bricky Williamson and Bill Skillions. </li></ul><ul><li>Willianson and Skillions were arrested. </li></ul><ul><li>Ned and Dan were nowhere to be seen. </li></ul><ul><li>Ellen was taken to custody with her baby Alice. </li></ul><ul><li>Ned was possibly in N.S.W. </li></ul>
