Castlist“Man/Thing” – Josh GrazierGirl –Tina MeunierOverview of story-The witching hour is said to be a time of day where supernatural creatures are attheir most powerful. Our story is based on this time: Three am, where paranormalactivity starts to occur with no control. “Amy”, a young girl, is effected by thesehappenings badly and calls for help, but when she is taken by the ‘thing’ andnobody can help she runs out of places to hide from the terror. She decides she isthe only person who can put a stop to the horror of three am, and searches forways so she can finally put the supernatural to rest.Outline of opening horror sequenceBeginning – slow zoom in of clock. Cross cut edits to different clocks in the town(e.g. wall clock, digital timer clock, clock on church). They are all at 2:59. Soundperspective of loud clock ticking is used. The time then turns to 3am.Middle – Scary things start to occur in “Amy’s” house while she is in bed. Thecamera shows her waking up as she always naturally wakes up at this time of anight. Books fall off the bookshelf and candles light up and go out again.Everywhere is dark. The camera then goes to the staircase where we get a lastsecond view of a shadow which has been moving slowly up the stairs.End – the camera is now shown as the eyes of the ‘thing’. We see its hand grasponto the door knob of ‘Amy’s’ bedroom. Cross cuts to ‘Amy’ and to outside thebedroom door are used to see ‘Amy’s’ terrified facial expressions – she knowswhat is about to happen. The thing is now in her room and at her presence andgets closer and closer to her. The thing reaches out towards her and ‘Amy’screams. End of sequence.2

Sypnosis‘Amy’ is a young girl who lives with her parents. She has always had the samerepeated nightmares for as long as she can remember, and regularly suffers fromlack of sleep and insomnia. When she is finally old enough, she realises that whatshe thinks she has been dreaming about for the last 16 years is not made up.Every night she wakes up at precisely three am, when she is awoken by a tickingclock noise. After this point, things start to get stranger and more scary. Thingsfall off shelves and mysterious sounds start to play around her house, andsometimes she has experienced ‘things’ talking to her of which she cannot see. Aninexplicable character then comes into her room every night and stands in herroom for a while, gets out a piece of paper and a pen and jots some things downon it, until it finally disappears and everything goes back to normal and thetension calms down again.Until one night, the same happens again, however this time the ‘thing’ does not getout its piece of paper and pen. Instead, it reaches for ‘Amy’ and takes her to aunknown location where there is little chance of escape.‘Amy’ then decides she has to put an end to the witching hour and searches for away to get back to the living world. CostumesAmy will wear simple pajamas as she is in the process of sleeping in the sequenceThe ‘man’ will wear all black clothing. The look we are aiming to give the ‘man’ isthis:(inspired by ‘Slender Man’, a character said to be seen in the presence of childrenmissing for no apparent reason)LocationsThe main location we would like to use would be in an average house filmed inthe dark. For one of our cross cut edits during the clock part of our sequence, wemay also choose to film in the town to focus on one of the churches for its bigclock.2
