  • 2. Loki: The Norse God of Trickery <ul><li>He engineered the death of Balder the most beautiful and loved of the gods. By tricking his blind brother into shooting an arrow made of holly the only material able to injure him. </li></ul><ul><li>He tricked the jotunn mason into building a wall around Asgard for free. </li></ul><ul><li>He tricked dwarfish smiths into making Thor’s hammer, Odin’s spear and the magic foldable ship. </li></ul>
  • 3. Rebbeca: The Book of Genesis <ul><li>She plots against her older son in favor of her younger son. </li></ul><ul><li>She disguises Jacob as Esau to fool the old feeble and blind Isaac into granting him his blessing and birthright. </li></ul>
  • 4. Anansi: An African Fable <ul><li>To buy the stories Anansi had to bring three things in payment: the hornets, the snake and the leopard </li></ul><ul><li>He tricked the hornets into coming into a gourd that he then corked up as part of the price of the stories. </li></ul><ul><li>He tricked the snake into stretching out and letting him tie him to a stick. </li></ul><ul><li>He tricked the leopard into the pit and tied him to a stick. </li></ul>

Morgan LeFay: Arthurian Legend <ul><li>She tricked Merlin into teaching her the secrets of magic then trapped him in an oak tree. </li></ul><ul><li>She tricks Arthur her half brother into having a child with her because Arthur’s own son would be the one to defeat him according to a prophecy. </li></ul>
  • 6. Durza: Modern Day Example of a Schemer from the Inheritance Cycle <ul><li>He is not as loyal to the king as he appears to be. </li></ul><ul><li>He orders his magicians not to attack Eragon so he can capture him alive and force Eragon to serve him. </li></ul>
  • 7. Lucifer: Book of Genesis <ul><li>He deceived Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden into eating the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. </li></ul><ul><li>His attempt to make Job curse God by taking everything he owned failed. </li></ul><ul><li>He tried and failed to deceive Christ by tempting him with worldly pleasures. </li></ul>
