Here’s what CIOs and senior IT leaders tell us about CMIOs & clinical IT leadership
      • The CMIO is the soul of driving patient data from information to medical knowledge to action and decision support
      • CMIOs are leading the charge on meaningful use, clinical informatics and integrating physician practices
      • CMIOs are key to establishing the IT, staffing and best practices framework and guiding change management to drive health outcomes to enable health systems to prove their quality/value to succeed in the next healthcare ecosystem of P4P
      • CIOs and CMIOs are working hand-in-hand on projects such as implementation and adoption of inpatient and ambulatory EMRs and CPOE
      • 54 percent of CMIOs are still part-time IT gurus—but this traditionally part-time role is increasingly demanding full-time leadership or in some cases two MDs are sharing a full load
Source: This online survey was conducted by the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) of its membership in cooperation with CMIO magazine from Feb. 1-15, 2011. Ninety three CHIME members responded. CHIME serves the professional development needs of healthcare CIOs and senior healthcare IT leaders and advocates for more effective use of information management within healthcare.
